i played the game a bit, and there’s a few things you could change/add. more blocks like wedges and things; mechanical blocks (wheels, wings, suspension, pistons and stuff like that) and renaming ‘edit’ to ‘paint’ would be a bit helpful, or changing it to instead have a custom icon (like a paintbrush and stuff for the other options) to simple it down a bit. and, a hexcode color selector just to get more precise coloring and stuff. a sprint option and flying option for bigger builds, and lastly a better map if you do add cars so you can drive it on bumpier terrain and whatever. the game has a lot of potential, best of luck making it.
Whoaaaa that’s a lot of feedback!! I will definitely take this into consideration. Thank you so much!
Roblox does not respect new developers very well. They didn’t even tell you about StarterGui.ShowDevelopmentGui
.
A few bugs:
materials list gets cut off:
if I die in the game, it no longer lets me place or edit any blocks.
I know about the ShowDevelopmentGUI option but the thing is that I was working on another GUI that time and the menu was in my way. If I would have disabled the option, I couldn’t have seen the GUI I was working on as well.
Trying to find a solutiion for both bugs you found, I have no idea why it wont let place blocks after respawn. I have debugged it and it’s most likely the problem with Zoneplus module that I use to detect zone entry and exit. I tried to post about this but nobody gave me a solution; had to bump the post, nobody helped; had to repost; nobody helped and I got a warning from the community moderators. How am I gonna be able to fix my issue when nobody’s helping me???
Both, colours and materials scrolling frames are fixed. I had to set the canvas size like you suggested.
I also sent an UI designer my game’s UI and now he sent it back saying he improved it.
Edit: he sucks at ui designing ; c
decided to come back to the game, a few more things that’d be better again. making the GUI a sort of matte black/gray to make it more sleek would be a good improvement (imo) and putting the texture instead of the plain white behind the text (diamond plate metal and things) so you know what it would look like would also be helpful so you don’t have to just test every material. and i’m not gonna repeat what i said before, best of luck with this game and once again it has good potential.
Thank you so much for more feedback! I’ve been waiting for somebody to comment on this topic.
I hired an UI designer that improved the game’s GUI:
I haven’t gotten it yet because I need to wait until I get my robux and then I can pay him and get the UI.
And yes, I’m adding shapes as well, like you said. I’m very open to more feedbacks and honestly I can’t believe everybody thinks it has so much potential. Of course, it’s a game that is easy and fun to make and I can add a lot inside it, just like today - I added music in the game and a switch to toggle it on/off.
I also got some models (trees, bushes, mountains, etc…) because I also hired a modeler, but I’m not sure where to put them and where to start with making a new map lmao
What amazes me is that this might be my first ever successful game and one I am actually going to finish. I’ve already done so much and you wanna know what the crazy thing is? I’ve done it ALONE. All by myself.. I’m quite proud of myself.
great job man, i’ll be coming back every update (or few) with more feedback.
a few things i forgot is changing the font to something less cartoony and simple, and adding a sound when you place blocks so you know you placed it.
the ui looks a lot better in the black, changing the slider to white so it’s more visible would be a good change.
you should also (imo) remove the color selector with the build tool and just let edit do it, it’ll put less clutter on the screen when you’re building to make it easier to see things and stuff, and also moving the material list to the bottom of the screen i think would look better too.
being able to paint all as an option would help with smaller builds, and painting the ground (this goes to materials too)
pvp tools would be cool too by just turning pvp on or off (depending on what happens with the game)
by the way if you ever want an animator i’m willing to do it for free. (but i don’t think you’d need animating in a game like this)
I’m very happy to hear that I have a supporter!
I usually just don’t change fonts and leave it to default but I’ll try to not do that on this project. I’ve also added some sound effects already
It’s hard to organize all of this, within every GUI I think of creating, I’m having trouble with where on the screen to place the GUI but I will take this into consideration
That’s great to hear!! I’d probably like to have something like a placement animation, you can contact me on Discord if you’d like: kidstealer3000#5147
