so a new rule came out that you must use the ArePaidRandomItemsRestricted for lootboxes for specific australian users that can be bought by robux directly or with coins that can be bought with robux (my case). but what if instead of disabling lootboxes, I disable buying coins? the user won’t be able to use robux to buy coins and then buy lootboxes, would this work or not?
also no idea if this is the right category to use (i didnt know which one to use)
Paid Random Items are lootboxes that can be bought with Robux. This won’t be allowed in Australia (use the API appropriately to restrict access). It is fine to let players purchase “Coins” with Robux, as long as it is a fixed amount.
Also, a sidenote, you do not need to remove your lootboxes from the game completely–only use the API to ensure that players in Australia cannot buy them.
It’s not about whether there are “better deals” or not, as it is now the law in Australia that “paid random items” (aka gambling) be restricted to those below 18 years old.
Ohhhh neat I didn’t know that. Honestly a good change imo.
Since it mentioned restricted items, do you know that if items that are still attainable for free in game but that are just achieved much later on still count towards this restricted item law? Or would it bypass the law since they aren’t “Restricted”?
