Hello, my name is Royce!
I’m currently working on a SAO based game with @ApolloYT1 and I need ideas.
Perhaps I should elaborate…
I’m looking for ideas on tons of fun, engaging, interactive features, i.e.
- Fishing
- House Decoration
- Camping
- Cooking
- Mining
- ect, ect
The game is supposed to have a huge map and we need things to do in it!
Any ideas are appreciated and we thank you in advance!

To be clear, what is “SAO”? I googled it, and it showed “Sword Art Online”. Is this correct?
Yes, this is correct.
It’s a show, to be specific an anime.
I’ll try to sum this up while making very little to no spoilers.
It’s a virtual world that has the quality and authenticity of the real world and every building is interactive in someway.
It’s like real life but at the same time not real life, the actual definition of virtual reality.
My partner and I are remaking this game as there have been several other remakes that neither of us seem to enjoy as they are too realistic or do not relate to the show at all.
The game is low poly with realistic-ish terrain and we aren’t going to have filler buildings.
Because of this we need to have lots of things to keep the players entertained as I said in the post like doing interactive stuff as in real life.
Summary is that, yes, it is Sword Art Online.
I think you can have activities in buildings, like cooking and decorating (both interior and exterior decorating) but does it have to be limited to buildings? I know absolutely nothing about the show, but having more than buildings would open up a lot of activities. Like a campsite, where you can go camping, or a pond, where you can go fishing. Just having buildings might feel repetitive and uncreative for the player.
We intend to have all of those, and more, we are just at a loss of ideas and need help from the community.
Thank you for the ideas!
Oh and one last thing, how many floors would be a stretch because they take a while to finish?
Each floor is about the size of the jailbreak map.
If you’re gonna have a couple buildings with 2 floors each, all floors having the size of the jailbreak map, you’re going to have a game so large that it’ll lag hard. I recommend you go much much smaller than a jailbreak map.
We’ve talked to lots of other developers and I heard back from 1-2 of them that I could make the game storage less.
I intend to do that and also make it a realistic low poly look to let everyone play, no matter their device quality.
The first map also happens to be the biggest, around 1/4 the size of the full Jailbreak map, maybe a bit less.
To put it into picture a bit more, it’s a big stretch but we are making 150 buildings.
The rest of the land will be terrain, and floating islands with terrain on them.
