This is my first time playing Roblox in over 7 years, and I see that a lot has changed. I am considering hiring a builder and coder to develop a game for me, as the new standard nowadays for good games seems much higher than I would be able to build. As the title suggests, I am wondering what would be a good price to offer per builder of a game and scripter. I know it varies per the difficulty of the game development, but an ideal average would be great.
As a veteran advanced scripter I usually take 100-1000 or anything like that (dollars) for a percent game or 10-100 dollars a commission (depending on the work) Usually newbie scripters would take like 5-40 dollars for a commission or something more so maybe try that. You could also negotiate with them.
For builders I suppose anything like 15-50 robux per build is a solid price, both for newbie and advanced because building doesn’t really require much brain usage while scripting can become a headache. (Speaking from experience so don’t go harrassing me for this.)
A commission is basically a one-time job. Say, you hire me to make a simple camera system and then pay me and I go. That’s a commission. Percent game is basically something like a commission in which you work for a percent of the game, like you again hire me to make 30% or 50% of your game in one or more genre like scripting, gui design, bla bla bla.
Let me post it there, but I will add you. I am looking to hire soon, and I do not think your prices are unreasonable. I just need to see if you can script the kind of games I’d want since I glanced at your page and I see you code more FPS type games.
I’m in a similar position to you though since I stopped playing/developing on Roblox for around four years thanks to university but coming back. I’m not really aware how much people pay for builders atm. Before I left I’ve been offered commissions between 2K-10K for maps and, 500 for one house, 2K for four houses.
It heavily depends on the scale, detailing and the theme which you’ve already pointed out “varies per the difficulty of game development,” but I am wondering if someone who is a builder or larger creator who had hired one were to give a price range/%.
Really depends on what you’re trying to do. While some people on this platform will work for the equivalent of pennies, most jobs are time consuming and the more professional folks won’t do jobs bellow a hundred USD, from what I observe.
It’s less about how difficult the job is and more about how long it will take.
