What is a good editor/design application?

Hey there! My name is Flamindy, and I one of many Art Designers on the platform. I have been doing renders, art design, etc. for about 1 year and a half and I have stuck with paint. net and blender for all my work.

I am always looking for ways and experiments to make my design a bit better each time. While I am still trying to look for new things, I have never actually used any other way to make my art, only experimented with the tools inside of Blender & Paint. net.

My question is: What is a good editor/design application?

I have been looking to find particles such as fire or “magic” tools and other things, especially on google but they either are not the greatest and/or “fake transparent/png” images. I do use a server that does help with particles, but they don’t always provide what I need.

Could anyone help me?

Adobe is the best one for all of your art if you are interested in buying their subscription for $20 monthly. However, Affinity is one of Adobe’s alternatives that will best fit your kind, costing you $50. One time purchase and it is all yours. Same features with greater tools you can manage.

However, Affinity isn’t the only one of its kind. I do prefer Affinity since I do use it for such photoshop purposes. I also did some search with Adobe’s alternatives. Yet, I found GIMP would be your best choice as it is #1 Adobe photoshop alternative. It’s free to download and no need to purchase it paid.

I’ve heard of a great alternative to Photoshop which is called Krita, it works very similarly to it, and it’s free! I’ve also heard of Photopea, which you can use online(for free as well!): https://www.photopea.com/. I think you can also download it, too.

As for Blender, I can’t really think of anything that’s better. It can do pretty much everything that other paid 3D modeling software can do(pretty hard to learn but it’s definitely worth it).

I can suggest a few applications/softwares, I’ll have them hyperlinked so you can view them if you’d like

GIMP is also a decent software and free, I used it once or twice when i was looking for softwares myself but i eventually went back to paint. net since that with plugins that I currently had could do more than gimp

(This is the one I use) I recently discovered some application by the name of Clip Studio Paint you’re able to download a 30 day trial with all of the features and the full version is $50 but they do have it on sale sometimes for 50% off.

You can install + create your own brushes, theres more blending settings, more tools and theres MANYYY things you can do on there that is beyond the ability of what paint. net can even if you have plugins installed. It’s basically like photoshop but way cheaper.

A software i was using for a good while before stumbling across the current software i use was
Paint Sai2 This is another application that’s not free; It’s around $50 as well however there is a 31 free trial, and then you have to buy a license, this is basically paint. net but more advanced and is something i personally recommend if you want a similar layout as paint. net It doesn’t have as many filters/effects either however the amount of configuration of the brushes + blending settings are a bigger variety which is redeeming.

I’ve starting using gimp for 2D art. For 3D art, stick with Blender 2.8.

I’ve been using GIMP for many years and was able to produce near-realistic 2D pieces like this and this.

Hey! I have worked with a lot of artists in the past and a lot of them either use Adobe or Photoshop! I don’t know any other free platforms but I do know that those 2 work very well! Hope that helps
