What is a good idea to stop pay to win with gear fighting game?

I made a gear fighting game, Similar to Catalog Heaven with gear revamp & fixes. The only problem is how to make the game more free-to-play? Since a lot of good gears are locked in an expensive game pass.

I’ve added boss fighting where if the players defeat a boss they will receive free good gear as a reward. Would this be a good idea?

Well depends on the type of gear your giving the player after defeating the boss. If your going to give them the same gear that the gamepass gives. That’s basically asking your players not to buy the gamepass. Well if the gear you give (for defeating the boss) is substantially different you should probably go right ahead and give it to them.

Thanks for your feedback. They are different but they are as good as game pass gears.

Then you should consider making the gamepass a bit more better than the boss gear.

Maybe, have some kind of quest system so when they complete a quest they can get XP, then eventually level up, get gear.
Or you could have a quest system so when the complete quests they just get gear straight away.
