Hello,
I am interested in making a relatively large survival map and was curious to if there are any tips/tricks and dos and don’ts regarding a large map.
I am not super thrilled with the terrain editor due to how laggy it becomes on a slightly larger scale. The import feature also does not create smooth contours using a heightmap (no matter how smooth the map is). I could be doing it wrong though and am open to suggestions.
What is currently the “meta” for large scale maps? Smooth terrain? Low poly? Parts? How is performance on each of them? So far, I tested an imported map that’s around 8,000 x 8,000. It runs fine in studio, but I had yet to see the performance hit on other devices. I am open to discussion and would love to hear what you all have to say.
