according to the documentation, it looks like it is for a Secret Data-type. Which means that it will tell the roblox api that the object being saved has a different secret data-type and to process it differently

Edit: Roblox Enginge Data-types are the ones you can use on roblox

They talked about this at RDC. It’s going to be for storing stuff like API keys - there are security issues with putting keys or other sensitive information directly in source code. A secret store is coming to help solve that problem.

This is almost certainly correct as Secrets exist in most languages that have web functionality.
