Per Roblox Assistant:
Style links are a feature in Roblox that allow you to link a specific style to an object or part in your game. This can be useful for applying consistent visual styles to multiple objects or parts without having to manually adjust each one individually. By using style links, you can easily update the style of all linked objects by making changes to the style itself. This can save you time and effort when designing and updating your game.

Though within the example I seen StyleSheet so I have reason to believe that the link acts as a bridge to the asset(s) and the style controller.
