What is the best Lighting setup for a GFX?
If you look at the setup from @i5k and those types of gfx designers, they have a good lighting setup. What do you guys recommend that I should do about the lighting?
You should definitely use Future lighting, a low FOV such as 30, lights placed strategically such that they are not random invisible blocks everywhere, a good colour for materials such as grass, shadows enabled on all items, enable bloom and sun rays, change brightness, color correction (tint to the color you like, such as slightl purple or orange for a nice sunset scene) and, if you are able to handle it, putting on some ‘shaders’ would also make the scene look better. You should also be sure to change the value for the ambient and outdoor ambient, especially setting them to lower values such as 0 for night scenes. I cannot over-emphasise the importance of shader plugins though for achieving a very realistic look.
For typical showcasing or character renders 3 point lighting is your go to. But for anything else it all just depends on the scene, there isn’t the “best” lighting setup. But for general lighting I just use sun lamps, HDRI’s, emission planes. Then I add in more lights to areas where I want to be focused on more or visible.
