What is the max file size for 3d objects

yeah so i have these buildings im trying to import its 1.2GB i dont know if thats huge or roblox is fine with it, regardless would like to know because if htis is 1.2gb im gonna end up uploading like 40gb :skull:

Can you show a picture of your model. I just want to know how in the world a building mesh could end up being a gig.

:skull: idk why its 1.2gb and its still parsing in roblox studio

A gig is crazy but that does look like a pretty large building. how many triangles on that thing?

how do i check the amount

aaaaaaaa

go to the “Viewport Overlays” menu and select “statistics”. that thing probably has over 100k triangles haha

How to see triangle count in Blender

my bad im not that experienced with blender

1.2 million triangles

That is a lot…like a LOT. Roblox only allows up to 10k triangles on a 3d object.

yeah well i just imported it it just finished parsing and it looks horrible :sob:

so like is there a fix or work around to this

yes you can bypass the limit by separating the whole mesh into smaller 10k tris sections but you wouldnt want to spend 1.2gb on 2 buildings in the first place, bad for memory usage

remodel each building under 10k tris max (shouldnt need to be more anyways if its just exterior)
just saying theres a reason why roblox limits 10k tris per mesh and you should follow their advice

i didnt model this im a noob when it comes to modeling, im using some building generator to make this so i dont know what to do

Blender has ways to lower tri-counts without hurting the look of models, or to an extent. I assume the mesh is very unoptimized. If your long-term goal is to learn Blender, I recommend looking into YouTube tutorials and practicing. But, for this mesh specifically, you can try to optimize it by doing the following:

Under the Modeling tab in Blender, press CTRL + A to select all verts, then press Mesh, then Clean Up, and choose from one of those options. There’s usually a slider to choose between looks and fewer triangles. The simplest one should be Limited Dissolve.

Keep in mind that this is the shortest way to deal with this problem (of high tri-counts). The longer solution would be a mix of the above and manually re-making different parts of the mesh.

If the above video & instructions don’t make sense, feel free to send me the .Blend file and I can try to do some simple fixing. The longer process could take 30mins to an hour so I wouldn’t want to do all that, but I digress.

i tried it just changes the amount of buildings and its shape, i dont think its reducing the triangles

i pressed ctrl A but that did nothing so i did just A and it selected something

bro i have no idea why the video wont play but this is what happens

depending on what i put its either how its originally meant to be, sliced up like this, or just 1 big building

Do the buildings have fully modelled interiors? Just want to let you know that 1.2 MILLION is obscene for a single building POI and you’d honestly be better off just modelling a building yourself.

nope its just the exterior, and i’m horrible at modeling so im pretty stuck rn
