What is this blinking box that appears while I'm scripting and how do I remove it?

I keep somehow enabling this blinking box thing that, when typing, replaces the character that I click on. It’s really annoying, especially when I delete a character and the box moved backward so I can’t type there any more. Any help?

Try pressing Insert to remove it.

Yes what he said it is another form of cursor some programmers use that follows the style of development used on most Linux based systems.
