was indexing a sound effect called inside a aprt and i saw “audiocancollide”, no idea what it does, any help?
It’s a property of BasePart and it was added in version 652 (we’re on 654 right now), so about 2 weeks ago. It seems to be for a prototype or testing for audios, which by the name implies, collide with parts.
judging by the name and the reply above, it may be a test for some sort of realistic audio dampening, like how audio seems muffled through a wall. if im correct, this would be really cool, especially for horror games!
but, i can always be wrong.
Roblox might be planning to add an update that allows sound waves to apply forces to unanchored parts
Edit: Don’t take this reply too seriously, this reply is mostly a joke.
finally i won’t hear sounds fully clear from 3 rooms over
Personally, I think it’s more likely this is to muffle sounds that play behind parts, there was even a Hackweek project of it:
(At 1:02)
is this enabled by default for all parts?
I can’t check right now, but it should be easy to see for yourself by creating a new Part and printing the value of it in the Output. This feature will likely only be fully released mid-to-late-2025, we probably won’t get any information on it until next year because most of the engineering team is on holiday, and it doesn’t have any functionality right now.
Just checked, yes, all parts have the bool set to true by default.
