This part of the dialog includes the phrase “What the hell, Alex?!” as a term of shock and frustration. “What the hell” sounds more serious than “What the heck”.
The game’s targeted audience is 14+, but I know Roblox has lots of young players on the platform. Is it allowed for the phrase to be put through or is it necessary to change it to “What the heck?!”? I’d love to know your thoughts about this as well.
It uses an older system from when I wasn’t very advanced, so for simplicity I made it use the under 13 filter. I guess I could update it but I never have thought of doing so. I probably won’t.
As a personal opinion, I don’t think hell is really a curse-word anyway. Replacing it with “What the heck” will definitely make it seem kind of goofy and stilted to the older audiences.
Plus, as @/Ty_Scripts has mentioned, it goes through the filter, so Roblox definitely doesn’t consider it to be a profanity.
If you wanted to be extra safe, you could always pass your own dialogue through the filter, especially if it has any questionable words. That way, if Roblox changes the filtering rules, you’re always in compliance.
I agree with others that hell isnt really a curse word. Although, if you want to be safe you could check if the players account age is below 13 and change it to heck.
It seems fine, if you dont want kids in your game use the PolicyService and see if AllowedExternalLinkReferences is set to true, if not then the user is probably <13
