I am not such a great builder. I’m more of a scripter. Regardless, I tried my best shot at making a lobby, however, I am having trouble coming up with ideas for what to put in it. I’m trying to put intriguing and entertaining things around the lobby, but I don’t think I’m doing it right.
What are you attempting to achieve? I want to make a good lobby for my game.
What is the issue? I cannot think of anything to add into my lobby.
What solutions have you tried so far? I had asked my friends what I should put in the lobby, but I still can’t think up anything to add.
For those who are wondering, my game is about escaping a maze. Said maze has walls that randomly disappear, and the player must escape to win. It’s basically “Hedge way out” from Epic Minigames.
That’s a good start, I like the little obby you have, maybe extend it to wrap around the entire inside. You could also add a jukebox sort of thing where people can spend points on playing audio. Also a leaderboard would be cool, if you know how to script one
I can see that there’s a lot of negative space in the lobby.
One thing I would add is a cosmetics store in one of the corners, like in Epic Minigames.
You could also put up statues of the developers (including you!) in the empty space. An example of this would be the statues in Restaurant Tycoon, where it’s a gold statue.
Leaderboards: This will enable players to be excited about reaching a higher position on the overall game board, this can involve amount of wins, etc.
Descriptive boards: This will enable players to read boards that may gives hints, updates for the game, or upcoming released to excite players to come back to your game.
Overall, I would focus on detailing the lobby. Instead of making a box, you could add a scene, this could be by a beach, something in the forests, a tree house, etc.
