What type of Fighting Game should I do?

So I’ve been having this question on my head for so much time, I am working at a fighting game and I have it all planned but I still cant decide which type it should be.

The types I mean are these:

Rounds System,

Adventure Type (As a example, Swordburst 2)

What about some type of magic martial arts?

Anime seems to be quite popular now, you could give that a go, Only if you can make it unique from others.

Actually the way I planned my game to be was to be a game where there are different types like Terraria (Ranged, Melee, Magic, Summoner) but it will work like Swordburst 2 and will have a lore.

Well I dont really want to do a anime stylish game, the fighting classes and the other things won’t be from anime.

But I really wanted to know if I should do a rounds based game or a adventure based game, both seems like great ideas to me.

Yeah, what about something like an ancient mixed martial arts, or magic martial arts as Aztralzz said.

What do you mean with martial arts?

Have you heard of bruce lee? Like Jeet Kune Do and Zujitsu are two really cool mixed martial arts, if you looked them up and made those moves work, I’m sure it’d get popular!

Well I dont really like things about martial arts but should it be round based or adventure?

Round based is basically that infinite loop:
Intermission , Game starts, Game ends, Intermission.

Meanwhile adventure it is you that goes out and fights.

So you want a similar concept to epic minigames, yet unique?!?!?

No, Im wanting to know if I should do a system like epic minigames or if i should do a system like swordburst 2.

Swordburst 2 is the game where you goes out and kills stuff to get better and all, the difference is that YOU need to go and fight instead of having the system to put you inside the fight.

I think sordburst 2 would be unique, except, I’d suggest not referencing it by “sordburst 2” because, you want it to be unique. If you think of it as similar, it’ll be too similar. Unique is the way to go.

Well I was taking a reference about their system, I cant simply remake systems like Rounds System and Adventure.

The thing is I really like both types, but I only want to have one of them.

I use swordburst 2 as a reference to a adventure game because it is the most popular (I think) that follows this adventure type.

Do adventure. I don’t really like how a lot of round based games have nothing to do in the lobby, so only do that if you have a great idea for what to do with dead players/during intermission. I also like the feel of an adventure-style game.

Very nice! I just started having ideas of what I could do with a adventure type game, I think this can be great.
