What's the average player Quality Level?

Hello, I am trying to find the average Quality Level in studio that players use on the Roblox client.

I want to make sure I build my game in the quality that most Roblox players will be playing on, as the lower the quality, the fewer lighting effects you see.

For example, I don’t want to build my game on full graphics like this:

Just to have someone with a low-end PC see this:

I would like to balance it out so it looks clean on low and high-end PC’s.

Here’s what my level Is set to but I believe it’s too low and others use something higher.

What do you all think? I’m going to set my quality level to 12, as it’s a little below half.

I’m confused on why you want to know what other people use. You should just use whatever makes you feel most comfortable. If you can run studio at the max quality level, then do it. If you can’t, you should probably try finding a quality level that you would feel comfortable developing in.

Most terrain developers like me or those who develop in large scales use Level21. Anyone else you don’t really need the higher quality levels unless you’re taking screenshots in studios. If your computer can handle it I don’t see why not use Level21.

Because of how Roblox renders terrain I really do need that quailty at 21 at this 40k stud ^2

I’m asking because I want to build in a quality that most players use, for example, if the game is made in a high Quality Level, not everyone will be able to see all the lighting features since they don’t use the max level of graphics on the Roblox client.

For example this is the lowest setting on our current build:

And this is the max quality:

Ah, alrighty, I see why terrain developers use a higher scale, decorations aren’t animate in a low Quality Level and don’t have to much shadowing:

Compared to a high-quality level where grass is animate and shadowed:

But thank you, I’ll keep this in mind when I do terrain next time. I recently discovered I can change the render setting in studio so that’s why I asked.

And what if the game is made in low quality? Will that mean that even players with high graphics won’t have a good quality?

I think what @xol2creamy is trying to say is that he’s trying to meet in the middle of low quality graphics and high quality graphics to give both sets of players a good experience.

No, it just means we can set the lighting and add proper lighting properties that people can see to it’s fullest extent and not something that’s halfwitted, for example this is what atmosphere looks like in Level 1, there is no fog, and it just darkens it a bit, making it not fit the build since the inside is lit up with lights.

If you have a low end device, then do it with a Level 01, once you’re done, you can switch to Level 21 to view your game in full graphics.

Sorry, I reworded the post since it was unclear. But yes, I get this, I’m asking what’s the average Quality Level Roblox players play on so I can accommodate for it.

You could probably do a poll asking people what graphics quality they use the most.

Expect your answer is a level 1 because most players on Roblox have low end devices.

I think 9-12 is what you should put the minimum too. It doesn’t look as exciting on lowest settings.

Yeah, thanks, I’m hosting it in my game’s discord.

True but I don’t know the conversion from roblox graphics to the Quality Level on studio, since it’s 1 - 21.

Yes, I mean I know that, It’s just that not many people can handle that graphic settings since they play on really low end PC’s.

I did the calculations and for every 1 studio quality level, that’s about 0.476 game quality level.

Try using Streaming to contain chuncks rendered for the player.

What? This is like, completely irrelevant to the topic lol.

But I still see what you’re saying, we will have it on but it still does not substitute that much for low-end PC’s.

Ah, thank you, I didn’t know if it’s like something you can calculate or just their own system, I’ll bump it to like a 6 then. Thanks.
