What's the Lowest Stud Increment I should use when Building?

The Lowest Recommended Increment I’ve been able to find is 0.125, but I need something smaller and more precise without going to 0.

This is the Problem I’m having with 0.125

Anything helps

You should be able to work with any factor of 0.125

So maybe try 0.0625, 0.03125, 0.015625 etc

Personally I recommend .025, its pretty smooth and precise while keeping a decent stud increasement

Thank you so much for these Increments!

I’ve tried that, it’s just a bit too small for me.

I’ll keep trying to use it though.
thanks!

This discussion comes up weekly, and here’s my advice:
You should never stick to a fixed increment. For example, grey boxing (building with generic shapes to map out your build) should be done in large increments, 1 stud or something you find easy to work with, I like increments of 4.

When you expand into detail, this is the system I like to use in order.
0.5 - 0.1 (0.25 if you need to half 0.5) - 0.05 - 0.01 (0.025 if you need to half 0.05) etc.

Start with 0.5, this is for when you want something halved in size (obviously). If you require further detail, switch to 0.1. If you need half of 0.5, go down to 0.25. If 0.25/0.1 needs more detail, switch to 0.05. Pretty simple system!

This avoids ugly decimals, like factors of 0.125 (0.0625, 0.03125, 0.015625) these’re harder to do mental math with, and complicate the process.

It is at the end of the day, however, a matter of personal taste. If 0.125, 0.0625, etc work for you then have at it. This is just my system, and you should always experiment to find your own.

In “Size” (found within Part Properties) you can do most calculations.

As seen in the screenshot, this is a useful convenience and streamlines the math sometimes needed to get part sizes right.

Thanks for this!
