What's the process for getting a use case in the hands of an Engineer that doesn't classify as a bug but an upcoming feature?

I’m having a particular issue dealing with large amounts of terrain slowing down the “Startup” time of the server. The first player seemingly always have to hang around for a minute or two.

However, considering the roadmap has upcoming features to mitigate this issue (probably). And the release of Terrain loading optimization. Is there anyway to get in touch with or provide my place to as a reference for the development of said upcoming features?

I’ve considered messaging DevEngagementTeam but thought against it because seemingly it falls into a grey area, and I didn’t want to waste anyones time. Likewise I didn’t want to make a bug report… because it’s not really a bug as well as the people that may tell me to split my game up in the meantime which isn’t really an option.

So my question is, when I want to get my use case (place in this case) in the hands of a Roblox Engineer for a better investigation into the problem when it falls into the grey area of not being a bug.

Who do I contact? Where do I make a post? Should I duplicate a feature request despite the feature already being worked on? Or do I just wait?

Perfectly fine with waiting. despite this post seeming otherwise.

In the past (such as with the impending faster Lua VM) Roblox has asked for benchmarks in the form of code or places. In this case though, unless your use case is fairly unusual, I would say you’re better off just holding tight and seeing if the use case gets covered in the new terrain changes. If engineers ask, you can always provide it to them.

DevEngagementTeam is mostly forum moderation, not necessarily getting people into contact with engineers.

Find an existing feature request about terrain optimization or create one, talk about your use case and your problems, and refer to the roadmap item.
