When changing an item on the avatar page, CPU skyrockets

(I know this should go in #bug-reports:website-bugs but I can’t post there)

Here’s a photo showcasing my CPU usage before I went on the avatar page and right after:

As you can see it literally skyrockets, and this only happens on the avatar page WHEN I change an item, I would try to record a video too but I don’t want my PC to burn.
As you can see I have a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G combined with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 (not visible here).
This has happened before with just the avatar not loading or random bugs but this is really something new. I don’t think it’s Opera GX’s issue, it shouldn’t be, any other page and even on ROBLOX works fine.

Okay it appears that ONLY when switching an item does the bug occur. It starts getting horrible only after the avatar starts loading, 3D and 2D.

maybe addons to opera GX are causing this issue? It works fine for me on chrome.

No, addons on opera GX are not causing this issue, I dont even have addons.

if you have a spare laptop or something you can log on to opera gx to see if it has the same effect. You can also try changing accounts to see if it has the same effect.

I also noticed this last night when changing my avatar using Opera GX, CPU went from ~10% usage to 99%. (I heard my fans spin and checked it out)

Specs:
CPU - I9 9900KF
GPU - 3070 Ti
Ram - 64GB DDR4 3200

I will try it in another computer and different browsers when I get the chance.

Me and my friend also have this problem. I am using Brave and he is using Google Chrome. The page freezes upon loading. It’s really annoying.

I expect it has to do with the 3D viewport displayed on the webpage. Upon changing it to 2D, performance goes back to regular levels.

On Firefox with a 10900k, it has no issues loading in 3D, 2D, adding stuff the the avatar, removing stuff from the avatar, and reloading the page.

Edit: It does spike my 2080 TI to 100% a bit on 3D, you are most likely experiencing a CPU slow down because you don’t have a dedicated graphics card.

I do have a dedicated GPU. This would make sense though if Opera Gx Is using my CPU in place of the GPU for the viewport.

KF model intel CPUs don’t have integrated graphics.

I will test my usage more thoroughly when I get the chance.

Yeah, honestly it’s pretty terrible when doing any accessory changing on a web browser; partially, I think it’s because browsers aren’t allowed access to your GPU and that why it throttles doing graphic computations. My CPU also ends up throttling at 84%-90% or 100% when I change my avatar, or leave the avatar webpage open. It’s not native to any web browser at least from I’ve seen, using Chrome or Edge (These are just widely used in comparison).

And always resort to loading into a custom avatar game just to copy paste the IDs, and when it gets pretty bad resorting to task manager to fully shutdown that process in chrome.

I did the same things on Opera GX, and I didn’t have any CPU spiking issues. I think Roblox is just weird

I have officially found a solution:
Go to settings in opera and search for “Hardware Acceleration” and tick the option that says “Use hardware acceleration when available”
This will make it smooth
