When inserting object using trackpad, the object sometimes is parented to the location of your cursor

In the above video, the first insert of the frame properly is parented to the element.

In the second, third, and fourth insert, you can see the object changes parent based on the location of cursor. It’s as if I’m dragging the object. I am never clicking with my trackpad, only moving my trackpad.

Some notes:

  • I insert the object after searching by pressing “Return”, not by clicking the object in the menu
  • Studio seems to think I’m dragging the object after insert, as is shown by the object dragging to the parent. However I am never clicking with my trackpad, only moving it.
  • I am on a MacBook, using my trackpad.
  • This seems minor but its actually driving me crazy trying to work on my laptop

This is just an acknowledgment announcement!

We’ve filed a ticket into our internal database for this issue, and we will update you when we have further information!

Thanks for the report!

Does this happen if you use the Next Gen Explorer beta feature? The insert object menu code was heavily modified to make sure it would work with both.

It doesn’t seem to happen with next gen explorer. However I probably won’t be upgrading to the beta because it seems to have a low refresh rate and the insert menu doesnt scale properly

We’ll do what we can to fix those bugs, but if this is only happening in the old explorer then it is unlikely we will spend the engineering hours to fix this since it is going to be eventually excised.
