When will I know I'm ready to start taking contracts and doing commissions as a beginner?

I’ve been learning to script for about a year now and thus I still consider myself to be a relative beginner. Hence I’ve been wondering when exactly will I know I’m ready to start taking jobs, is it when I’ve learned certain advanced topics? At this point, i’ve already learned and practiced with several of roblox API such as CFrame, tween service, spawn functions and coroutines etc. Just wondering about this, haven’t seen a topic on it so I decided to make one.

Its possible to start doing commissions on any state, beginner, newbie, etc. However, depending on it, it can be easier or more difficult. Harder stages means more work/showcase aka meaning people expect more out of your work when you get commissoned aka you get higher prices.

Lower prices and beginner commissions can find easy commissions but probably for a much smaller price or have sometimes have a hard time finding people that commission them to be trusthworthy.

My suggest would be to start small. Look for work on places like Hidden Developers and the dev forum for small jobs that you know you will be able to complete. This will give you a good insight to what it is like to take commissions and what employers will expect from you. It also ensures that you wont be overloaded with work as you can choose something small and simplistic that ought to be relatively easy

One thing I do is examine what most people are looking for, and ask yourself, “Can I think of a way to do that? Have I done that before?” If you aren’t sure, you could even pretend you took the job and try to fill their order on your own, just to test yourself. See if it works out.

I’ve been scripting for nearly eight years, and I still run into things where I am unsure of the best way to tackle it. That’s part of learning and gaining experience. That’s pretty much how it is for the 99%. The Forum is a great place to go if you aren’t sure how to do something.

Hope this helps!

I would’ve poster it under discussion but I didn’t have the option to.

Oh ok. It’s fine. 30 character minimum.
