Where do I start with building low poly in roblox?

Hello DevForum!
Ive always wanted to practice building but I’ve never had a clear Idea of what I have to do and after some quick research it looks like low poly is the most used style.
I want to ask where can I start off in practing building low poly? Are there any specific tutorials or guidelines I should follow?

Sadly, it appears you have received an absence of replies. Allow me to be the first.

Low-poly is an adjective used to describe an virtual item which possesses a low amount of polygons. Polygons are usually seen as shapes with three or more sides that make up a more complex object. There are no specific boundaries that regard low-poly like an actual art style (such as cartoon which is an actual art style) though there are some common themes.

  1. In Roblox, it is highly recommended to build with the material “smooth plastic”.

  2. Keep sharp edges to a minimal since you hardly see such in low-poly items.

To give you a head start, here is a plugin that I suggest you use to get a feel of what it means to build low-poly creations.

Hello Lv100DominusUltimus and thank you for your reply. By sharp edges you mean 90 degrees?

Here is a good example of a creation that is low-poly. As you can see, there are very little edges that are sharp with the exception of the top of the trees and the chimney. Hopefully this will give you a good idea of what I mean.

Just to add, it is usually quite difficult to build low-poly creations in Roblox Studio even with plugins such as the one I provided and this one which could also be used. As a result, most Developer’s usually import low-poly creations from Blender. Here is a tutorial.

Hello again! Thanks for taking your time to reply with information! I already know the basics of blender since im learning it to use it for renders. Perhaps the learning process of modelling would be a bit smoother. Thanks for the tuorial you linked!
