"Where Does this Go?" | The New Member Problem

The forum is a resource for developers. Not a status symbol.

These are forums for devs and I’m going to be completely honest here if somebody can’t read… They won’t be able to get far in lets say game creating…

I know i was just giving an example. Probable not the best one.

Alright, That is true. I admit that that they wouldn’t but they might still want to.

Really no point in this, considering someone can just read the description of a category and just use common sense by reading the categories title.

The devforum is not social media.

If someone can get into the devforum , they can most likely search for others.

Not a valid argument.

Well what do you expect us to do? Guide them if they aren’t going to do anything at all?
They can try to make games, but honestly and this also might sound really offensive they won’t/don’t need any use in the dev forums

Don’t see the point in making this, also explain how DevForum is social media. In my opinion the DevForum is basically like Forums except for developers. Forums aren’t social media.

Category names are self explanatory. I do not know the issue here.

Oh wait. This is the issue.

This forum is called Developer Forum. Roblox development should be discussed. And of course we have this category, #forum-feedback. There is an off-topic category but you need to be a regular to gain access to that.

Also yeah, please do not @ users while replying to their post. This is the equivalent of mentioning someone in a Discord DM. It is redundant. And it takes more key strokes for no benefit. @everyone does not mention everyone here. It mentions a user called “everyone” but from the looks of it, no user named everyone has a devforum account.

I think there are enough categories, and it is pretty obvious which topics belong in which category. If you can not find a place to put your topic, it probably doesn’t belong here in the Devforum.

To summarize this topic up, I believe that devforum already provides all the information needed for new members. Adding in more categories isn’t going to do much and probably make the forum a little messy.

In my opinion, I believe that devforum is great the way it is. If there are more opinions that come up on things that would change the devforum up a little, we can always check them out and see if they could bring any positive effects. I just don’t believe the issue you are trying to convey is really a problem here.

Agreed, once you get back @AidanPlaysYT_Real you’ll have to explain to me how a Forum is social media.

True, again though, people are all different and i bet a few people on this forum have to have it read to them.

Fine, it isn’t. I am trying to make a point though.

I get it, we cant all help, but ewe can at least reconize these people and not just brush them off as insignificant to the forum.

That doesn’t make much sense? How would they make posts if they can’t read?

People who can’t read can have it read to them and then tell others what they want to type.
(For that one i am talking about blind people)

Also they removed “New Member” awhile back. You get Member when you complete the tasks.

True, there can still be new people though, even if there isn’t a tag for it.

This topic has been going in circles. There is currently no need for new categories on the forum, and the forum is meant as a resource for specifically Roblox developers (13+).

If you would like to request a specific new category given none of the existing ones are sufficient, specifically ask for one and justify why you think it should exist in the context of a forum for developers.
