As a Developer/New Forum user, I often have troubles deciding where a post should go. There really aren’t enough areas on the DevForum to post certain things. Like, say if i had the question “Do you have to be 13+ To get recruited for a project?”. I can’t really tell where i should put that. Most of the questions you have not related directly to development are hard to categorize. Especially if you just got into the forum and you aren’t familiar with all the features it has to offer yet. My solution to this problem would be to simply make some more categories that are easier to understand. (EX: Roblox Questions; Description: An area were you can ask questions about All of Roblox.) That would be easier for us newer members to understand. Thanks for reading, I hope to see you on my next post. Bye!
Well they have a “Definition” to where they would go on the side bar of it.
Well I don’t know how to help if they can’t read a description.
@yut556 Even if you read the description, It can still be confusing due to the way Roblox puts it; And some people are really young and don’t understand that vocabulary yet.
Well true, but they have a little description on it.

Well then make a discussion about it like you did ask on tips of how to use the dev forum.
Honestly, I think it’s pretty obvious to know where to post stuff. But still, no offence, a lot of people just suck at it . I’ve seen scripting support topics get to #collaboration:recruitment. You’re absolutely right in saying people get stuck when choosing a place to post in, but creating new categories for each thing is not a good. It will just become a cluttered forum, and honestly we don’t want to change something we got used to. I have nothing against anyone with any age, wether +13 or <13, but younger developers seem to always be unexperienced, and there isn’t anything you can do about it, they just have to hopefully learn. If you inform someone that he’s in the wrong category, be sure that he knew he was wrong, and he will learn. If they’re unsure, tell them what to do or ask in #forum-feedback.
And for descriptions being complicated, in using very strong forms of english, that’s just how things go, professionalists always use a fancy way of wording. You’d eventually learn. This is especially for people who don’t use english as their primary language.
I kind of have to disagree on this one, before I became a regular today I could always find where to put a question/statement. As for Non-Roblox related stuff, there is a #bulletin-board category that can support some of that stuff. And like @yut556 said, there are descriptions of what the categories are about and new members should be reading and understanding those anyway before just writing something down.
These type of questions should already be answered by devforum’s Rules, you have to be 13+ anyway to be using the devforum. I also don’t see why people would have questions like this to ask anyway.
@HeIIo42bacon yeah, not all members read that though. (i did) but not everyone. Most younger people under the age of 11 don’t read it.
They have a description on it that is as big as the text of it they will most likely read it.
What do you think should be added? You can always suggest something in #forum-feedback and hopefully it gets some attention. Can you give an example other than the one you mentionned in the topic.
This isn’t really a good example, everything here is about Roblox. If you mean stuff outside of the deving world, that isn’t really suitable for the forum.
@yut556 Yeah, but still some people don’t know how to read advanced words. Again, (I do) but i am talking for the younger people.
Only 13+ can get into the dev forums… I’m pretty sure if even a 9-year-old gets in they can read all the stuff… people under 13/<13 are not able to post.
@starmaq I didn’t go into to much detail on that example but I was talking about Questions that aren’t Directly related to Development (But still some what relate to it).
Be sure that anything you can think of already exists, we have #help-and-feedback:building-support, #help-and-feedback:game-design-support, #discussion to talk about trivial stuff that doesn’t directly relate to developing. I can’t think of anything else.
@yut556 True, a lot of people have their account age up a lot so they aren’t limited on everything. There are ways to sneak into the devforum and people do it all the time.
I asked this question a while back.
