Hello people.
I am working on a brief PSX-style game about killing sheep in order to feed yourself. Everything has been going swimmingly, until the lighting. This is supposed to be a PSX-styled game, and the PS1-era games typically didn’t have much lighting, but I just can’t stand looking at this map without any proper lighting!
So, my solution is to ask the people of the dev forum on what type of lighting fits the game better.
Here are the options:
No fog, but WITH posterization
With fog, but NO posterization.
And here’s the poll:
I can’t put posterization AND fog at the same time, since the method I’m using (Fog set to 250000, and the other type of fog as an Atmosphere).
Love to hear back!

Fog looks better in my opinion it gives the game the vibe you are trying to achieve, Older games tend to use fog to not worry about rendering things farther than what the device use to be able to handle and to not show cuts within your terrain.

Yeah, only until after writing this post did I realise that SH 1 had fog.
That’s an oopsy on my end.
I feel like for some areas you could remove the fog to enforce that buggy nature old games had.
Example if your in doors or wherever the player looks out the window there is no fog and you can see the cut terrain. Since rendering engines back then couldn’t handle that much I think it would be a good addition to keep in mind!
Haven’t gotten to a stage of adding buildings and doors, but that sounds like a great addition!
