Which type of game would be more popular?

I really want to create a game. I have 2 ideas… but I don’t know which one would become most popular. I put them both into a drop down menu.
Please feel free to comment down bellow a text answer, or just vote on the poll.

Real Life Simulator

This simulators purpose is to mock the other simulators on Roblox. Its going to be a repetive (obviously) simulation of real life. (Getting born, learning to walk, going to school, graduating, getting a job, getting old, and then dying, afterlife, getting reincarnated, then repeating) The goal is to make it funny, and extremely dull interms of its colours and reward systems. (If your old and you complete a challenge you get 1 extra year to live)
It will play as a simulator, but each stage of life has different gameplay mechanics and features. (Example: Learning to walk you spam spacebar and then do obbies with strange controls. When you try and get a job you have to go through interviews and then spend tonnes of time typing.)

Would people enjoy this? I feel some people would only play it because they don’t like simulators either? Is it too dull for younger audiences?

Nightmare

This idea is a round based horror game where 1 player is selected to be the killer in various different gamemodes.
(1 killer and a group of survivors. killer attempts to eliminate the survivors and the survivors attempt to complete the objective in the given gamemode.)

This is fairly generic but I have been wanting to create a horror game for a very long time… I have many more ideas in mind for this but I don’t know how many people would end up playing this…
The people that would want to play this would end up fitting a long list of requirements (example: being able to handle creepy themes, can handle flashing lights and colours, can handle jumpscares etc) That is kind of why I haven’t been able to start a horror game yet even though I really want to.

Each gamemode is a different Nightmare.

More about the game:
-Unlockable Killers
-Special Abilities for survivors
-Customization for survivors
-Different objectives every gamemode

Let me know what you think!
After the voting peroid (1 day) I will create a post asking about recruiting members to work on the project.
If you would like to help create one of these game let me know!

**HELLO @TumbleElf **

MY OPINION
So i think horror games would be a lot more fun, but a simulator would have a lot more people playing and contain a steady amount of players. Overall if you want to make more profit off if developer products i would choose the horror game. But i think it’s your choice. I would make a simulator because they are cash grab, and there are already a lot “Story’s”

Thanks! – NFL

Personally the only game that sounds like it would peak my interest is Real Life Simulator. Nightmare sounds like those generic survival games like Before the Dawn and Murder Mystery and so on. Real Life Simulator sounds gimmicky and fun.

Final Opinion

Personally, I feel like Nightmare would attract more numbers in players, but Real Life Simulator would be more fun to develop for me and more fun for me to play. That’s just how I feel :stuck_out_tongue:

Does “Nightmare” have any inspiration from Dead By Daylight? If so I say try to make it as scary as possible! Honestly I have been wanting a good horror game on Roblox that doesn’t get old! I can’t wait to see which one you pick but I see Nightmare getting popular at first but slowly dying. Simulators are so popular there’s no doubt it will get at least 15k visits in a week if done right.

At the end
My vote goes to Nightmare because it would take more time and effort. Plus horror games are fun!

Good luck! :v:

Feel like Nightmare would be a better idea to go with, rather than just having a simulator that will gain popularity then be dead over the next few days. Which normally happens to most simulators, unless youtubers start making videos on the simulators, and the developers update the game very frequently. But yeah, I just feel like making the Nightmare game would go a lot better for you and the players.

Also Nightmare is a game where the developers who will work on it won’t get bored of it the next day, or at least I wouldn’t. :man_shrugging:

there are real life simulators that are really popular on the app store and I know some games like “Growing Up” were successful on roblox so the genre works, just needs a good gameplay loop.

Nightmare definitely sounds like it’d get more player retention - I’d go with that.

Hi @TumbleElf! I think I would play the Nightmare game (since, it is an extremely interesting idea), but less than the Real Life Simulator (this is one of those games that I would really enjoy playing, as I feel that there are not many games, in my opinion on Roblox). If you would do the Real Life Simulator think of a better name.

In my opinion: I like both. Even Real Life Simulator, i don’t like simulators since they are very repetitive and unoriginal. But this one is very good!

I would recommend you start with Nightmare, i saw that you have written this:

Do it, if you are creating games for fun like me, just do it. Don’t make it for robux, be famous, etc. Just do everything that you want.

And if you want, you can create Real Life Simulator later.

Also, i can help you on Nightmare a bit if you want, i also tried to create an horror game like that.

Honestly, simulators are dying at this point. Not like a complete crash but they are going downhill. Your first concept seems ok but who does an obby to grow up? I seems a bit strange but I prefer it over “Nightmare”. Nightmare’s concept is very repetitive, the games like that are filling in the market. Your market will be dead because of games like Flee The Facility. Back onto the first concept though, it seems ok. I mean simulators aren’t exactly new, but not old. I would suggest looking for other options though, scan your competitors and market and see where the gap is.

Everybody seemed to like real life simulator on the vote!

But @Conejin_Alt did state a very good point!

I might still end up going with Nightmare since it will end up catching more peoples attention when asking for developers to help me, and more people will end up clicking on the game since its different to the default simulator genre.

@Conejin_Alt I would love your help in making Nightmare!
I might end up making a recruitment post about it very soon!

Thankyou for your feedback!
