Hello, hope you are feeling well! My game named The Lost Land doesn’t get a lot of players and I don’t know why. I advertise and it reaches to 50 - 60 average (by the way I spend around 2.5k on ads, cuz I don’t have a lot of Robux, and I get a CTR of 1% or less). After ads stops running it drops down between 10 - 15 players (ALWAYS). There are also some people that joins and leaves really fast, there are even people that leaves in like 74 seconds and I am like “WHAT’S WRONG WITH MY GAME!!!”. To be honest idk what else to do, I need some feedback on what can I fix or change to get more players and keeping a better player base.
Right off the bat as I join, I notice how the game beams in quality. The quality immediately given gives a great first impression. Players don’t leave at the starting place, that’s for sure.
When I joined the gameplay server (I joined solo, by the way), I immediately knew what the game was about, so that’s also good, however, everything was a bit overwhelming. I destroyed the wheat plant with the rock for the tutorial, but as I saw that I needed to craft things, I just left the game. I think the reason people are leaving so fast is because they can’t handle the complexity this game has to offer. There’s breaking things with rocks, there’s crafting, and all sorts of things. Players just don’t like that. They’d rather play a simple yet engaging game.
So yeah, I think you should try to make your game have more simple gameplay. It’s very nice in quality, but it’s too complex for everyone to handle at once.
Just played the game, looks awesome! Couple things though
The first, and major, one is the amount of time it takes to complete tasks… I went and played the tutorial on multiplayer, first thing it had me do was cut down a dead trunk that took 10 hits… After that it said to cut down any tree and mine any rock, which was fine until I saw that it takes 40 hits for each one… And judging by what looks like the .5 second debounce on the rock, it’d take at least 20 seconds if you’re spamming it to finish each one. Considering that most of roblox’s player base is younger, I doubt many kids would want to stand next to a tree spamming it to finish a task… While I did not play much further into the game, with most of these style of games, it may take quite a bit of wood/stone to craft items further into the game, and having to take that much time for each piece would throw many players off…
And the last thing, is the cluttering of the screens… Once I loaded in, I was prompted with 2 main screens along with all of the ones on the side, especially on mobile, you want the UI to be clear and simple as much as possible… The less screen they take up the better…
But in the end, the game reminded me of other survival games that I would always play way too much . The game looked like I could spend hours on it without getting sick of it, just needs to be more optimized for the user… For example, instead of taking 40 hits with a rock, consider taking 5 hits just with the animation slowed down… And as you progress in the game, (guessing with more powerful tools) the animation will speed up… Its always much easier to prompt a player to do 5 long tasks then 40 short ones…
I played the game for a few minutes and I enjoyed it a lot! I do agree with @12904 tho, tasks take a while to complete. I tried the game in single-player mode and skipped the tutorial, I had no trouble understanding the game. One thing I noticed is that it’s very quiet and dark in a way, even during the daytime. These are just my thoughts, I hope they helped!
I’m sorry, but players see a survival game, but when they join, they see a clicker. The game is just endless clicking, and it takes forever to get basic resources. There is no combat, the crafting system is missing many necessities, and the entirety of the game feels like a rip-off of Booga Booga. You need to overhaul mechanics in this game, as it feels it was rushed, and make something that feels good to play.
I fixed the two frames popping up when starting the game and I also remade the system of cutting down trees and rocks. Tools do more damages than before and is faster to level up as well. Let’s see how the game does now.
