Why did buying an ad campaign decrease my playercount to 0?

I had a playercount which fluctuated from 10 to about 30 in high times, after getting a good amount of my pending robux I used it to buy an ad campagin, bought 30 ad credits for ~8k robux, used that over the span of 6 days, which is 5 credits per day.

One day after it went live my playercount dropped like a bird from the sky, instead of having 2 nearly full servers I now had 1 with only 0-2 people in it, it only started dropping like this from after the ad campagin went live.

Is there something I’m missing? What did I do wrong…

The Roblox system is extremely unfair to small games, where the algorithm can kill games randomly. Did you retake the questionnaire or change the title/description by chance?

it could’ve been an exploiter messing with the players experiences in the game.

Game were shown to some players as “you make like it” = this gave somewhat good stats
Bought ad = more new players, kids, bots, which decreased stats to zeroes.
Algorithm now thinks that your game is bad and not reccomends to anyone.

I did resmake the description and add (Big update) to the title, but that was a few days ago and the playercount had no decline after that

Is there any way to revert my mistake?

Sadly nope. Unless your game will get attention from good audience, you won’t be able to revert anything.

Running the ad campaign probably killed your retention and playtime averages, leading to Roblox not recommending the game naturally like you want it to after a campaign.

If you’re going to advertise you need to make sure that people who join won’t leave. Also, if you don’t advertise over a long enough period or with enough Robux, it won’t really help at all.

All of these replies saying that running ads negatively affected your stats / homepage recommendations are false. Roblox clearly states in their discovery documentation that users who join from sponsored ads do not affect recommendation rankings. I am not sure why your CCU decreased to 0, but it was not simply due to the ad.

I mean 8k robux is alot right? I bought 30 ad credits and spread it over 6 days, 5 per day

Do you have any idea how I can get my game to be picked up by the algorithm again? I was so happy to see it have that much players, it warmed my heart knowing these people were enjoying something I made, something I put so much work in.
I really thought buying ads was the way. I basically paid 100 dollars to kill my game, what a scam.

I’m unsure about how you can get players back. Mb go to social media and advertise here. About thing “Ads won’t affect”, I’m 95% that it’s not truth, because not you only was greeted with such result.

Based off of what they said, the ads didn’t affect your stats directly. Is your game dependant on other players at all? If it is, then people joining from sponsored that immediately leave could’ve harmed your active players
