Why did my game fail?

A while ago, I released a simple game named Guess The Word as one of my first multiplayer experiences; however, it received a low rating and never gained much traction after running an ad campaign for it. Receiving a few active players during the campaign but having a low retention rate.

The game concept is simple:

  • The round begins
  • Vote on a theme
  • One player is chosen to pick the word
  • The other players try guess it
  • Earn 100 points for each word correctly guessed
  • Repeat until the round is over

At the end of a round, players can use their points to purchase titles and banners in the shop.

If you have any feedback on how to improve, please let me know as it will be highly useful when developing future games.

Thanks for reading!
Have a wonderful day

Ill just write down every thing (small or large) that I feel like was putting me off of playing the game:

  • The UI was not the greatest (should look more clean and animated in some parts maybe)
  • The bright red color was almost blinding
  • The game seemed kind of confusing to me, not sure why though
  • Game didn’t seem satisfying, and it didn’t feel like I was earning anything when playing
  • The person who selects the word can guess
  • The end of each round doesn’t show the winners (each word round, not the entire game round if yk what i mean)
  • The music is really repetitive and annoying

And that’s about it, these are probably the main/only reasons the game didn’t succeed

I Agree, I only noticed the letter A in the background after I pressed esc.

Because the game isn’t engaging enough and doesn’t have good first impressions
