Why does this flip book particle flip when rotated?

Im using a slash flipbook particle and using it to create a barrage of slashes. I want the slashes to have so deviance but rotating the slash creates odd behavior that I do not know how to fix.

When rotated downwards the slash acts as I would expect, but when I rotate it upwards the slash flips itself.

Rotating laterally also forces the particle to rotate for some reason and also inherits the same behavior of inverting when rotating upwards. Does anyone know how to fix this?

The particles are attached to the cube. Whenever you move the cube the particles move. Maybe try detaching the particles from the cube.
