Why doesn't my game have any active players?

Hello!

A while ago, like 5 months ago, i’ve released a game and quited developing on it on Dec 2020 because there was no active playerbase, unless i’ve kept spending thousands of R$ on adverts.

The game has over 35.000 Visits, 1.300+ Favorites, 215 vs 219 Likes/Dislikes (Game has been disliked-botted).

This amount of visits was achieved in only a couple of months. I assume this means my game is quite good and enjoyable. When i’ve questioned a lot of players in my game, they’ve nearly all said it was a nice, unique game. Only a few complaints about a few bugs back in the days.

So, i have no clue why there was no active player-base.

I’m thinking about to start developing on it again. But i’m afraid of spending thousands of R$ on it again without achieving some playerbase.

Please, check out my game, review it. Like or dislike and share if likeable.

First of all. It’s a good game and don’t get me wrong, it has some serious potential. The thing is that you have to wait for 3 players to be in the game(Correct Me If I’m Wrong), then you can play. And I think it’s annoying to wait. And you have to add updates to keep the player engaged. Do some Q&A’s with your players. Keep them engaged as much as possible and listen to what they have to say. Second of all, you quit developing it, therefore the player won’t bother coming back. Like just keep making updates and don’t quit. Third of all, on the discord server, you can do live tournaments like to see who’s the best at the game and so on. Just.Keep.Developing. I hope I helped you,

The problem with a game like that is that it requires multiple players to play. As the game died down every one decided to quit playing because they couldn’t play. A way to prevent this is to advertise more and update more.

I’m aware of the waiting players have to do. However, back in the time it was alive, the average players in-game was 8 to 10. Killing the waiting time.

I’ve added some ‘arcade’ machines in the lobby for players to kill their time, and made a “Invite Friends” button.

Anything else i could add?

Do regular competitions with your players and you can add more badges because it’ll keep the player engaged to the game. And just a suggestion, I think it’ll be better to remove" Play now!" in the title. And you should add a better tutorial for the game. And you can add more things to do to wait for other players to join. And you can make more ways to earn XP, money by giving the winners of the arcade. Last, the potato is an egg. Not a potato.

Potato is not a egg, that’s right. I’m currently working on a Easter Theme, and released the egg, on eggcident.

Maybe people just dont like it? You can make the best game with the best building, scripting and everything but if its not something people want to play theres not much you can do, Ive seen tons of lazily slapped together games become super popular well games that look like theyve been years in development get like 10 visits, Gotta look at trends in played games and build accordingly
