Why is everyone disliking my game?

Hello, thanks for visiting my forum and trying to help me!

My project on the platform is currently serious, I’ve been working on it alone and when I finally present it and promote it I find that my game is being bombarded by dislikes. Why?

I’ve spent all my time updating my game, fixing optimization and bugs, when it’s been left spotless, this keeps happening…

Nobody wants to give me an opinion or a reason why this is happening, so I’d like to hear from you!

PS: My game is in development, so it is normal that it may lack some things and require improvements!

Thanks for your attention! :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s tough when you’ve put so much effort into your project and the feedback doesn’t match your work. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Audience Mismatch:
With 65.6K+ visits and only around 150 people leaving likes or dislikes, it’s possible that many players didn’t engage long enough to form an opinion. The ones leaving feedback might not represent the entire player base, so try to target communities that fit your game’s genre to bring in players who are more likely to enjoy and engage with it.

  2. Game Expectations:
With such a small percentage of visitors leaving feedback, the dislikes could be coming from players who expected something different. Make sure your game description clearly states that it’s in development, highlighting both what’s available and what’s coming, so players don’t feel disappointed by missing features.

  3. Testing with Testers:
Have you tested the game with a group of trusted testers? If so, what was their feedback compared to the public audience? Testers can help you catch gameplay or design issues that might frustrate players. If your testers had a positive experience but the wider audience is leaving dislikes, it could point to a mismatch in expectations.

  4. First Impressions:
Since so few players are engaging with the like/dislike system, it might indicate that many are leaving early or not fully experiencing what you’ve built. Consider whether the first few minutes of gameplay are engaging and intuitive—players often form their opinions quickly.

  5. Community Engagement:
Sometimes players need a little nudge to give constructive feedback. Try prompting them in-game or on your community channels to share more detailed opinions. This will help you gather insights beyond just the like/dislike ratio.

If you can gather more feedback and target the right players, you’ll likely see a better response over time. Keep going, and best of luck!

My opinion, loading times. At the start you have to wait for it to load, then for the initial intro then waiting spawn, then you still have to wait for lots of other things like the ui to load. Also this giant donate board right at spawn is super obnoxious

Also theres no clear indication of what the controls are.
To other people, the placing system looks really janky, and I would ditch the proximity prompts.
The flashlight shadow is super buggy.
Also the build to progress floors mechanic, while it sounds good, can get pretty annoying when there aren’t many players as a lot of objects are quite small and spread out.
When it turns night, it just seems like all you can do is wait as even with the flashlight, trying to build up at night will almost certainly result in you falling. Also the barriers on the edges of the floors kept pushing me off. However the game still is quite fun when you get the hang of it, so don’t let this stuff demotivate you as most of the things in the game are well made.
