Hey, I recently released a game called “stone farm simulator”. For some reason, the game is getting a lot of dislikes… I tried to ask many devs why do they think the ratio is so bad, and a lot of changes were made, but nothing helped. The dislikes just keep accumulating.
Please not that this is not the first time I release this game. When I published it the first time, due to the terrible like ratio, I decided to delete completely and republish it as a new experience in order to reset the likes/dislikes.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, I really hope we can figure this out!
Playing for about a minute now and being honest it’s not bad. The only reason I can personally imagine is maybe the space in the island. It’s very compact and squished, maybe giving the player’s island some space would be beneficial to first impressions.
Sorry, I could have been more clear! I mean in the starting Island, all the buildings on your island feel really close to each other, there’s not a lot of space between them and feels a little crowded, especially when you have no island expansions yet. Hopefully this makes more sense lol
The steady increase for prices of picaxes and the selling area should all be in your island. For about a couple minutes of grinding, I got 70 coins. The next picaxe however is 300 coins. I don’t want to keep mining and mining, it gets tiring. I’d like to discover things easier and faster.
Look - Don’t worry about how many dislikes it can get, just continue. Maybe someone even dislike botted, so you never know! So If you have a feedback button in your game, let others give a feedback and see all the stuff you can change.
Honestly impressive. Love the interface and the programming. Not a fan of the area. If this whole thing was in a land, it would be much better in my opinion. Send me a friend Inv if you’re interested in seeing such a place. It seems we are creating the same game from two different angles.
(I’m like 58 btw )
add a feedback button, so you know why they are disliking.
Also, like @OhLordiez said, do not mind the dislikes, some people are just idiots who like to just dislike random games, even my own brother disliked my game.
Dislikes can be really unfair to developers because there’s obviously people disliking the game without giving their full opinion when it comes to understanding the game and its put effort. Don’t let the dislike counter ruin your motivation!
So, I gave the game a try, despite not actively playing simulator games myself.
The game itself is honestly pretty well made, compared to the average simulator. It has a clear art direction, and seems pretty unique altogether. I haven’t come across any bugs yet, so that’s another plus to the list. The grind is also sufficient enough (although maybe not so much for your average 7 year old who just found the game?) and I’ll admit I spent more than the 5 minutes I planned for checking out this game.
I do wish that there was more to do in this game though. Right now the gameplay consists of mine-upgrade-mine-upgrade, which could be a reason for all the dislikes considering the grind. Branch off from your average simulator further and include more gameplay mechanics. Maybe give players the opportunity to duel on a specific PvP island? It could be done with the already-existing pickaxes.
I do have some more tips to give though.
If your game isn’t already mobile-compatible, make it so. Otherwise you’re missing out on an entire market.
Find content creators to show your game to. Publicity helps player count, and player count helps with the rating on your game.
Establish a community. It could be a Twitter account, or even a Discord server. Anything to keep your players updated on what’s next. It’s also a great way to recieve feedback.
As for the dislikes on this game… They’re natural, in a way. Sometimes people dislike your game, and that’s fine. The most you can do in this case is try to ask for feedback on your game, as established earlier.
Honestly, I feel like ROBLOX should remove their dislike rating option. When people see so much red on a game like this, that has fallen victim to the people who care enough to leave a dislike, they obviously are less likely to even click on the game. All the dislike button really does, from a developer standpoint, is hurt a games profit. And in the rare case that someone has a significant reason to leave a dislike, they just pile on to the people who didn’t, which shouldn’t happen.
