In such a competitive market like Roblox, first impressions are everything. Whether someone bails immediately or sticks around to play is often decided in the first few seconds in your game. A new player has no way of knowing if your thumbnail is representative of late stage gameplay, and they frankly don’t care.
If players are spawning into your game, and their first impression isn’t “WOW, this looks amazing!”, your game probably isn’t going to take off. A lot of people are telling you this same thing above, and you’re responding defensively to them, but the thing is, they’re correct. You asked for advice, you got it, and you can either act on it and improve your game’s first-10-second experience, or you can dismiss them and watch your rating continue to drop.
I don’t consider this a launch, but I probably made a mistake calling out all of my community members to play the game without proper testing, I knew there would be a lot of comments on the game and I am ready to change or improve anything, I just didn’t like the guy’s attitude.
Went to check out your game and here are my thoughts:
You could improve the thumbnails, they’re just pictures of the maps. Your map is fairly small and empty (behind the mountains of course)
You could maybe add some logic? Those bricks appeared out of nowhere, maybe make some good meshes for the dirt. Make the game at least fun, completing 100 quests that are “Talk to this person, collect this, collect that” or something like that. The game
If I can say anything else this game just has random stuff.
Keep up the good work and improve your game! Your game will get recognized sooner than you know it if you fix some minor things.
The map will have more stuff, I am just finding another builder now, also the map will progressively expand as you play (still the end result isn’t the greatest), if you are asking for logic, I could simply add a broken down truck or something that contains a few materials for example, but I am focusing more on the fun in the beginning of the game, so if it isn’t fun at all then I would like to know more important advises that would change the game.
Note: You actually tested the game after the quest revamp I did, I am not saying it won’t be changed at all but I am kind of surprised that the game is still not fun at all
The real problem I’m seeing is stuff spawning out of nowhere. For example the NPC’s the farm, the random house! Add some UI to the game such as maybe settings to remove that sound/effect you get when you complete a quest, stick to one plan at a time and don’t rush it! You should probably private the game and get it all together once you feel like the game has surpassed your preference!
So you simply want animations of things appearing? The quest achievement is really minor and there is a lot of content in the game that you didn’t see. Also, the thing about stuff spawning out of nowhere is also minor as you can think of it simply like they are getting built, but spending a lot of time on animations isn’t worth it because it is clearly a minor change & it can be done in future updates.
I am really not trying to be against you or anything but this honestly what I understood from what you said
Yeah, I never specified it being urgent, just a suggestion to freshen the game up a bit! Rushing your game isn’t a good idea and you should do stuff slowly. I recommend using trello! Trello can really help you organise your work, you can set due dates, labels and more stuff (THIS IS NOT AN AD)! It’s just an app that really helps me. And I agree, animations aren’t needed currently, it could be done in the future, I would primarily focus on the core of the game!
I’m sorry if I sound rude, I really don’t mean/tend to be! I really like the game plan and I can see real good potential here!
Too many quests, the game revolves around quests which gets repetitive, most players want to do things themselves once they learn the basics and that’s what makes the game fun, doing specific stuff by yourself and seeing yourself progress rather than having someone telling you what to do each time.
