Why is playtime so low?

I’m working on a simulator game right now where you click to swing a sword to get strength, and more strength = better swords, which mean more strength per click, and you can eventually rebirth to get even more strength per click. You also get gems for rebirthing, which you can use to buy upgrades and hatch eggs. I’ve noticed that the playtime averages around 3-4 minutes (which is pretty bad), and I’m not sure why.

The tutorial is pretty interactive, so I don’t think that’s the reason. I rebalanced the game recently to be more easy, and there aren’t any bugs (as far as I’m aware). It might just be boring but I don’t know.

This is the game:

If you could give me your feedback, that’d be greatly appreciated! :hugs:

You could try making an icon that is less confusing and explains the game much more. No offense, but this icon might not be the way to go.

The same goes for this thumbnail:

Maybe try creating a more eye-catching thumbnail or something more popular than Minecraft. For example, The Amazing Digital Circus. When I created a game, I used something that is much more popular at the time. The game I created was a “limited -blank-” game. After that, it got over 1,000 visits in one day. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback! Besides the icon and thumbnail, is there anything in the game that could be making players leave?

What do you have in the game? If you could give me a list of a whole bunch of things that are in the game already, maybe you could spice some things up. If you have tons of basic UI, maybe revamp it. You could possibly add some SFX or make the map look better.

So here are the mechanics I have in the game:

  • Sword to click
  • Rebirths
  • Gems
  • Upgrades
  • Pets & Eggs
  • New areas
  • King of the Hill area

Aaaaand I believe that’s it. What else could I add to make it more fun?

I do not understand what “sword to click” is. Is this a click to equip sword sort of thing? Or is it something else

The gameplay is boring, nobody wants to spam click all day. I don’t think any amount of polish can mask what the gameplay is. Which, btw, the game has good polish. Good UI, VFX, SFX, etc.

The map is too big imo and it takes too long to get to new worlds/places. Pet Sim X and 99 work because you can see the progression through various means, not just a number. In this game, you see it through the sword, yes, but not so much worlds or pets as it takes quite a while before you gain access to those features.

I forgot I could rebirth in the game after a bit, but then remembered, which helped. I don’t think it brings up the UI if I’m ready to rebirth.

Regarding the thumbnail and icon, it is deceptive marketing. Put some in-game screenshots or GFX of one of the in-game swords. Keeping the icon and thumbnail, without change of gameplay, can be considered false advertising, which is illegal.

As a side note, I’m not one to support or enjoy clicker games, so take that into consideration with my feedback. I think it’s an oversaturated market with little innovation and stale gameplay.

Anyhow, I’ve found that watching others play my games gives me great insight to what I need to improve/change. So, I hope this helps:

You spam click your mouse or screen, the game automatically upgrades your sword after you click enough. There is no equipping. The game is linked in the OP.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I lowered the requirements for unlocking new areas and made an auto clicker mechanic so hopefully that should help.
