Why is this game failing?

Hey guys,

last summer I decided to make my first ever public simulator game on roblox by myself, and things went smoothly enough to get someone to help me sponsor the game and make it look better.
We even put 20k in sponsors and made a ds server (counting about 40 members right now), a twitter and a group and we reached about 10 CCU, but after the sponsor ended, we are currently getting 0 players with an average playtime of ~5 minutes.

I’m also taking the time to make updates (made 2 big updates so far), but I don’t know if it’s worth updating anymore since each update made no changes in engagement. Could you give me some feedback on the game?

Everything is highly appreciated, Thanks in advance!

I joined your game, and the first thing I noticed is that there are too many things going on at once. There is a lot of UI that pops up on the player’s screen once they join the game. You should probably make the UI smaller as well. Also, the floor is PACKED with BillboardGUIs. You should decrease the amount of food on the floor.

EDIT: There are a lot of performance issues as well, this game wouldn’t run well or wouldn’t even run at all on mobile or low end devices.

Thanks for your reply.
Are performance issues related to collecting food or is it somewhere else?

Well, your first mistake was deciding to make a simulator. This genere is overly-saturated to the point where more than 50% of games are abandoned.

Not saying that’s the main reason, because anything goes on Roblox, but have you concidered that it’s exactly the same game as hundreds of other simulator games. Same style icon, same thumbnail, same UI, same build, same colors, same mechanics. Except player is picking up food items instead of coins/gems/wheat/rocks/whatever. Looks like a template to me.

I’m sure some kids can get hooked to walk around for a while, so maybe target younger audiences and hope they haven’t played multiple similar games already.

I mean, I wanted to make a simulator cause after a lot trash projects I wanted to finally make my real game :C
Do you think I should just start a new game idea and stop this one?

Basically what you should do is keep making games of all sort of genre or topic, dont try to make a game big at first or else it might be too much for you to handle or get visits at first point. Try out different games and see if any got visits. Also spending 20k on advertising is not quite a good idea since usually advertising doesn’t do a good job, just save your budget making games I guess.

Here is the GUI for anyone else who’s curious

I’m confused. All you do is run around as food flies towards you as if you are a black hole.

Where’s the gameplay?

Yeah, probably.

You can try adding some gameplay to this one and attempt to stand out from similar simulators. Who knows, might work.

Your game looks like a template, just like @SnoutUpDev said. There is nothing that stands out from all other simulator games, all you do is run around and pick up food until you have enough to “rebirth” and then do the same thing all over again. What your game needs is more gameplay, something that other games do not have. I have a few ideas that might help you:

  • Rare Food Types. For example, there is a 2% chance for a Gold Pizza to spawn on the map. Players are also able to TRADE for these. Remember, trading must exist.

  • Competitions. There are 16 players. The first to eat all the food in one area gets to proceed to the next one, and all the other players who haven’t cleared the stage in the next 30 seconds get disqualified. Only 6 people can make it to the final stage, and there can only be 3 winners. This last stage is small, something like YBA’s SBR. First place gets the best award, second gets a mid award and 3rd gets an accessory of some sort.

  • Basically competitions, but it is an 1v1 gamemode.

  • Limited time codes and daily rewards are a great way to maintain a steady player base. This way, players will be encouraged to rejoin your game every day to claim these daily rewards. Limited time codes are also great for getting people to join your game.

I hope I was able to help you. Good luck on your game and hopefully you can become a successful developer one day!

Just like I said, I think everyone agrees that there is just too much going on when you join the game for the first time. Daily rewards, Daily Chests, The tutorial on the bottom, All the UI indicating how many rebirth you have, how much food you have collected, your gems, your size and the wheel of fortune is just too much going on, and if I was a new player I would leave immediately. What’s most important though are the sound effects. There are SO MANY sound effects playing AT ONCE when you join the game.

I don’t know
i cant play on graphics >= 3
