Why there is an red dot on esc menu button?

Yesterday, I downgraded my pc from windows 11 to windows 10. I installed roblox to play some games and when I joined an game, this red dot appeared at top of esc menu button.

It keeps blinking and It always appears in every game and never disappears. I’m very scared about this thing and I’m thinking about somehow my pc got an virus or I get hacked. It can maybe some stuff of voice chat but i don’t know. Can someone tell me what is this thing?

I highly doubt it’s anything bad. Are you recording video on accident?

Strange I have never seen this before. I had to a few days ago downgrade from windows 11 and to windows 10 and never seemed to have this issue (although for some reason all my apps where still there so I did not have to download anything again).

What I would recommend is trying to un-install Roblox and re-install it. Also if your concerned about a virus run a virus scan (either via a paid anti-virus or even just the default windows virus protector would be better then nothing).

2 possibly would be

  • This is actually a beta feature, it’s similar to notifications whenever there’s a new action triggered, red dots could appear because of this.
  • If this is meant to be for Voice chat, it detects and try to improve their filter system or it’s trying to detect sound wave for moderation (This was heard on twitter but not sure if it’s linked to this system)

as you mentioned that dots are blinking, i believe there’s nothing to do with a virus or anything related to malicious above, those are changes released accidentally to beta launcher.

nvm

Yeah this is for Voice chat, it’s using IXP to record your voice when mic is active, it actually does like what I’ve said earlier

No. I didn’t record any video but if you want, i can record one for you. It’s in there for every time

Thank you for telling this to me. I’m very relieved

I noticed that the flashing dot thing persists even if you mute the mic ingame.
Does it continue to record your microphone even if your mic is off/muted ingame?..

It doesn’t blip if it’s not active like i said earlier

So even when you mute the mic in the server, it still records the voice activity that normally wouldn’t be broadcasted to the server?..

(I tested this theory and saw after you unmuted and muted your mic, there would still be calls to the voice.roblox.com api, however I don’t have the tools to dissect the data and confirm it officially.)
