I am currently working on refurbishing aspects of a kart racing experience I made a while back to ensure it does not get into copyright trouble. This character used to be a recreation of a Chain Chomp from the Super Mario franchise, however that was obviously not a great idea to have. I do not have much time to model a completely new character, so I just changed the color, material, and name of this character. Is this acceptable or will it still be considered too similar to the original character.

Even with changes, using a character that looks like a Chain Chomp could still lead to copyright issues. It’s safer to create entirely new characters to avoid any problems. If time is tight, consider simpler designs or getting help to create original characters.
