"Woods" - A love letter turned horror game

After months in rigorous development, I present my next solo project, “Woods,” a horror game with immersiveness like no other (more details soon). I am looking for investment as well

However, this whole game’s a love letter, to put simply. Here’s an explanation

This game’s development began in July 2024, following a few eventful months of my life, to which changed my view on life and my life in general.
The reason that fueled me to begin and to persist through development is a very special person to me. She’s one of the 3 main playable characters that’ll be within this game.

Chances she’ll see this is small. But I spent weeks secretly asking her generic questions that actually contributed a lot to the development of this game and its path.
For example, she values attention to detail and she values personality, both values of which are shown through the game’s gameplay. She’s a rather shy person who, on the inside, has lots of things to express and to show. I tried to show that through this game’s map construction by keeping things subtle.

As you might expect, most locations within this game are inspired by her words and the real life memories we shared together.

To put it simply, this is the most geeky and game-dev way to a love letter. If the game does successful, then she will see it, and hopefully things work out. If the game doesn’t, I probably won’t have the guts to tell her directly either.

Below are some pictures of the game that you can feast on!

Thank you for reading, have a blessed day. Join my socials to follow this “journey” with me.

Whoa!

Love the neon and indoor lighting of the store just standing alone in the darkness. I’ve always loved neon in the night

And the green fog works very well in the menu screen—feels environmental

UI is going hard for sure. I’d think it was a game released on the App Store actually

The most programmer way to show love. As someone who specializes in horror I can relate. Great job man! Hope all goes well
