I recently remembered about this now obscure subgenre of core games that used to be way popular back in 2017, so i figured i’d make a sort of “honorable mention” in the form of a new game under that genre. The genre being, you guessed it:
Computer Core! With the mainframe and all that stuff…
Note that my goal here isn’t to make something like the old games, i’m taking a bit of creative liberty and sneaking in some personal picks, like for example the enhanced lighting and whatnot. It’s still pretty bland right now and i’m open to advice/suggestions! (albeit i’m a little bit uhh… how do i say this? picky? selective? yeah idk)
And of course we can’t forget the hint at the top of the screen. Very important feature.
Right now i don’t have anything else to show so uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh have those bonuses instead
Bonus images
Old mainframe. Discarded because it looked bad and was too big.
This was the original game’s thumbnail, but for the same issue cited above i discarded it and i’m working on the new one (the mainframe was NOT the one above!)
New game thumbnail. Fun fact - the original game was actually made in Obby Creator, but i ported it! This image is from OC. (you have permission to make fun of this statement because i agree)
Nice idea, would be cool if the computer could do any task that any other computer could do but as for a core game it should be alright. Has potential but I am curious to know what do you plan to do with the core game to make it unique since there are many many core games of varies technological advancements and ideas.
I’m planning to add tasks that the player can do in exchange for money, like repairing circuit boxes and swapping out parts from the coolant pumps. I’m also going to make these tasks actually affect the facility in some way so you have to repair these in order to bring it back to normal, like:
Circuit box: Facility power production drops (and with it the income) - in addition to this, if too many circuit boxes fail, the entire facility will lose power
Coolant pump: You can’t use the coolant pump until it’s fixed
Server failure: You can’t view the reactor monitoring screens (or anything else that relies on the servers for that matter) until the issue is resolved
I’m still thinking about some other ideas for this, right now that’s what i got…
Apologies for the inactivity. I have been working on a friend’s project, but while i was at it, i ended up coming with a notification system that you can see here:
I’ll implement it in the game. Oh, by the way, i also renamed the game to something else, and gave it some lore. I’ll share soon.
