In this post, every major change from Open Test 2 to Open Test 3 is listed. There are many more changes, additions, and bug fixes besides the ones listed here, which can be viewed in more detail on World of Magic’s Trello Board under the Patch Notes list: https://trello.com/b/Mv99bZYP/world-of-magic
- The tutorial is no longer a saved statistic per file, instead it is a badge awarded the first time you complete it. If you own this badge, you won’t have to complete the tutorial ever again, even on new files.
- The tutorial is no longer skippable (due to the changes above, and also the fact that many people were skipping the tutorial and then getting confused)
- Lots of fixes and adjustments related to the Inbox, including formal/global message titles no longer displaying in the notification, character length check fixes, and a price increase on the global message product (since it was getting spammed heavily during Open Test 2)
- Increased the size of the Threat and Combat icons above the healthbar, and made them more visible
- Added the Inventory. In this UI, all of you armor, weapons, tools, titles, objects, and pretty much everything you own will be displayed. You can equip armor which changes your character’s stats and appearance, and also hide your armor, toggle your hair, and toggle your facial hair.
- Built the East Peninsula wilderness area, filled with trees, ponds, ruins, and treasure chests. In wilderness areas, you can break the law with no consequence.
- Added treasure chests hidden all over the existing areas in the game. These can be opened by clicking on them, and they can give Crowns, XP, and sometimes, a random piece of armor. These armors can be found at varying level ranges, and can increase your stats when equipped. They can also rarely be found Enchanted, meaning they give more stats than usual. In the future, you will be able to enchant non-enchanted items at a shop vendor in towns. (Note: Currently, there are only 5 types of items that can be found from these chests, not counting color variations)
- Added private storage, which give the same rewards when opened as a treasure chest, however, positive rep players are given a fine when they open these, and negative rep players can rarely cause a Threat on the area when opening them. These are located primarily in shop buildings inside of towns, and offer an alternative way to get treasure as a negative rep.
- Added the first negative reputation quests, which can currently only be found from Dark Wizards that hide out in forests near towns. These quests involve delivering plans to other Dark Wizards, as well as hunting down non-Dark (Light?) Wizard NPCs. These negative reputation quests have a red question mark icon instead of green.
- Quest indicator glow colors now reflect the ranking of the quest. (Light blue = F-Class, Green = E-Class)
- Fixed lots of bugs, including all of the quest issues seen in Open Test 2. Note that this doesn’t mean WoM is a bug-free experience, there are still a few common bugs that haven’t been worked out yet.
- Added the first Animation Pack, which is called the Boss pack. This is a game pass which can be purchased on the game’s page, or in the in-game Store UI located on the Menu. To equip an animation pack, go to the Animation Packs tab in the Store. Here, you get a preview of each pack’s animation changes, as well as a description telling you exactly what animations the pack changes.
- Lots of negative rep quality-of-life changes, such as: citizens no longer running from you unless you have a Bounty, you no longer have to get arrested as many times to change your reputation to Neutral, and Threats and Soldier spawning can be cancelled by luring them into the wilderness to finish them off.
- Your mouse no longer collides with bushes, tree leaves, or anything non-collidable when aiming attacks.
- Picking up fetch quest items has been changed to clicking instead of touching, to be consistent with opening chests.
- You can now send crowns to other players by clicking their name on the player list. You can type in an amount and send it as long as you own that many crowns, and the payment will appear in the other player’s Inbox. They can choose to accept or decline the payment from there.
- Added Picture Mode which can be toggled by pressing P. This hides all the UI on your screen while enabled.
- You no longer lose or gain reputation after a certain point of doing reputation-changing actions (to prevent players getting Legendary Hero and other high reps from simply delivering items, as well as preventing players from getting Demon from simply killing civilians). In the future, these reputations will be obtainable through high level quests instead.
- All player reputations have been reset due to the changes above, and also due to the fact that many players had to become negative rep to level up during Open Test 2 due to all the quest issues.
- Improved the loading screen, and added hints that randomly display on it while you wait.
- After a Threat in an area ends, that area enters “Recovery” mode, meaning a small icon will be visible above your healthbar while in the area. When moused over, it will explain that the area is currently recovering from a threat, so some structures or terrain may still be damaged.
- Doubled the cost of Magic Council Fines due to the fact that getting Crowns is much easier now that treasure chests are added.
- Raised the Max Level to 30, which allows players to become E-Class Wizards, create Explosion spells, and use the Amount option for Blast Attack spells. (Also raised the PvP Level to 15)
- Dark Wizard NPCs are now passive-aggressive towards near-neutral rep players, to hopefully reduce the chances of them randomly killing new players, as well as giving those players an opportunity to do negative reputation quests if they wish.
- Reduced the amount of XP gained per magic-user NPC kill, as this was only high in the first place due to lack of negative reputation quests during Open Test 2.
- Removed the Blocking delay, meaning the game now considers you to be blocking as soon as you press the key, rather than 0.2 seconds afterwards. (Note that ping will still affect this)
- Leaving the game while being pursued by spawned Magic Council NPCs will now give you an Automatic Arrest next time you join.
