I have been thinking about a game where you help a character through a depression crisis, and if you fail it is implied the character dies but you will never see it. This story would be set in some sort of time loop, so that after the character dies, it restarts. Is this against TOS? I’m also somewhat new to the forums, so if I’m doing something wrong please tell me.
If anyone wants more information about the specifics of the game, I have a whole document for it.
You’re probably pushing the boundaries of what’s against the community standards.
The reason is your character is supposed to help an NPC with depression who may commit suicide (even if it isn’t shown). The game may attract players who want to encourage the NPC to commit suicide.
Someone may play who thinks they did a good job and the NPC dies, and because they are mad they might report the game.
It’s a critical subject and Roblox does NOT want to get involved with any gameplay about suicide.
Yes.
“We do not allow content or behavior that depicts, glorifies, or encourages suicide, self-injury, or real-world activities that may create an extreme risk of physical harm.”
Now, yes, there are games who have suicide (like Decaying Winter) but I wouldn’t test my luck since the game got slapped with a takedown multiple times now. I would say find roundabouts, without strictly mentioning what happened to the character or that they have depression, simply being sad and them disappearing. Not to be a bum, but if you find it ridiculous or not befitting for the story you’re making- remember this is Roblox, a site for children, and such stories weren’t really ever meant to be made on its platform.
Tldr; yes.
(Edit) I love messing up words.
As much as I could support such a game, it’s breaking the rules too much.
yeah this is definitely going too far and i wouldn’t recommend rolling the “let this slip by moderation” dice either
I’m sure this idea is coming from a well intentioned place but gamifying serious issues like this is probably a bad idea in general let alone on this platform.
The gameplay itself could be adapted to keeping a pet happy or it will find a new owner, which is much less controversial but sounds essentially the same as what was suggested. (As awful as it sounds, but you see the problem with this idea?)
This is what I expected. I have already made ideas on how to change the gameplay to be less suicide focused. The main storyline was probably going to end up as some weird mashup of the stanley parable and slay the princess with a hint of sayori ddlc. It was a good idea but I think I know how to make it less dark for younger audiences to play. Thanks for everyones responses though!
i think pressure has literal suicide so
Maybe make the premise about going down slides?
Like, convincing that someone in need into choosing to go down the fun slide instead of… the sewer slide…
