When I play games on Roblox , I saw that there are a lot of copyright music being used. For instance , Dragon ball games . There are no doubt that a lot of music in the game are copyrighted. How come their game still alive?
What if I did the same thing ?
Download it off of YouTube and Upload it straight to Roblox and to my game , what type of risk am I taking?
Well I mean is dragon ball games changing the pitch? Lots of audio have changed the speed/pitch to not make it copyright. If it’s the original song, I would probably use it because a popular game has it. But they probably edited it a bit so it’s not copyright.
Changing speed/pitch will not make it not copyrighted, it is still the same music no matter the speed/pitch.
Even tho others do it doesn’t mean you should do it too, the risk of doing so is that your game/asset will be moderated and your account also moderated.
They reason copyrighted music still exists in those games is because the owner of the music has not requested a take down on it yet, but when it happens a moderation action might happen.
There is plenty of copyright-free music out there, most of them just requires credit to who made the music to be legally used. For those there is no risk to use as long as you read the terms and conditions for usage on them.
If it happens to that the copyright-free music was downloaded from YouTube the terms and conditions still stay, remember to read them before usage, then there will be no harm in using them. If it is copyrighted don’t use them, most owners of copyrighted music requires payment for usage and in most cases not one-time payment, but for each play.
