I recently had a interesting idea, in which users could basically get discounts in a way, off non-limited items from the catalog. Users could get items for 10% cheaper, if the robux I received from the in game item sale, was automatically payed out to them through the game’s creator group using the payout API. This wouldn’t be to my profit, but would just be a way for users to buy items for cheaper.
Before I even thought about pursuing this idea though, I wanted to make sure it was acceptable by roblox. My concern is that it seems like this kind of thing defeats the purpose of developers promoting roblox catalog items. I’m not sure if this is something roblox would take notice of or think about banning.
Sorry if the answer is obvious, but I wasn’t sure whether would be wrong in the eyes of roblox since I didn’t see any direct rules directly against it.
Thanks!
I cannot give a proper answer, but you have to take in consideration that games that give robux trough group payouts most of the time they get terminated.
A good example is a game that had a lucky wheel, from witch you where able to get an amount of robux if you where in the group, that game was terminated because of that.
So I wouldn’t recommend trying.
Yes, I have seen this happen many times before, which is the reason that my topic is maybe a bit sketchy.
I realize roblox can do whatever they want, but this kind of banning really needs to cease. Sure, expand your TOS if you feel like more rules are needed to keep the community safe from scams and such, but banning games that haven’t actually broken any rules is bad. It creates a lot of vagueness for developers that is quick unprofessional. I understand that something like my topic would be on the “no no list”, but roblox should really be more upfront about it if it is ban-able.
As has been said by a lot of people for a long time now, roblox needs to step up their moderation.
The terms of use mention that providing a service that provides robux to user is not authorized, this is probably counted as a service. So this could be a service for user to get robux, in a form of a discount, in this case this wouldn’t be authorized by the terms of use.
This is based on point 4 and 5 of the TOS
Based on how they feel about developers and people giving robux for free to users this is a project I don’t recommend getting involved in, the roblox terms of use are not the best as they miss on a lot of point, but based on what is already written this is (probably) a violation of the terms of use.
I understand that this is probably not the response you are hoping and waiting for, but most people will say the same thing or would just say its against the terms. Its a grey area, that you should avoid.
I think a ROBLOX Star Creator by the name of SharkBlox is already doing this, I’ve seen him talk about it sometimes in his YouTube Videos although I’m not sure if he is exactly doing the same thing you’re thinking of doing.
I did some further research and it seems like roblox only really cares when the paying out of free robux is more of a large scale operation. They especially don’t seem to like payouts to be linked to performing actions in a game, and seem to almost always ban those who use such a concept.
For something so small and innocent you will not have any problem though. It just seems to get questionable once it becomes more than a one time thing and/or becomes automated.
