I recently had an idea of making a post-apocalyptic game. It would be appreciated if you told me if you would play it or not.
Game Info:
Name: Nevermore
Genre: Adventure
Storyline:
You awake in a desert environment with no living things around - except for the zombies. You are left with clothing, a hologram projector, and a single hologram disk. After watching the disk, you are tasked with completing quests and obtaining special items around the open world. You can collect armour, gear, food, and other types of items to help you survive. There is a hunger, health, stamina, and thirst bar which the player will have to replenish every so often. There will be guns that can be used to kill zombies and other enemies that inhabit the destroyed world. At the end of the game (which can be done so by collecting the Mokush doll, Valorie’s gem, Emerald necklace, and ice leaf ring and putting them in the X-Shelter.) you get to watch the world slowly grow back to what it was before. A message with appear on your screen saying that you haven’t saved the world yet and that you will be needed again.
Details:
There will be PBR textures and realistic objects. You can buy a horse companion that you can ride around.
Thank you for reading and please vote, it is really appreciated!
Make it different, unique, just so it is not like other games, by that, I mean don’t make it basic.
Make the map fairly large, just so it is not a tiny square, along with a large map, make some abandoned towns, and maybe even a medium-sized city, that is all destroyed and in ruins and allow players to go INSIDE of the buildings to get hidden items/tools. Since it is a desert, the buildings and stuff should be pushed down in the sand a bit, meaning people would have to enter buildings from holes and broken windows.
Lastly, update it a lot and listen to all of the feedback you get from other developers, maybe even make the game work for mobile players.
Now, if you do all of this, your game is a winner. Good Luck with it!
That was what I was thinking. Realistic pbr textured objects in an open-world environment. Thank you for the feedback and I’ll be sure to implement it into my game!
I would definitely play it. However, I would change the “horse companion” to a Hoverbike or something similar to that. I would also change the zombies to aliens or something (since zombies are kind of generic). Also since you are going for a post-apocalyptic style, I would definitely make the whole thing SciFi, as most games of that genre usually are.
I think it would be ok graphics/sound wise but the game itself sounds like atleast 5 other games on roblox that are also high quality trying to do the same apocalyptic-survival concept.
The main only thing that stands out for me was how you could actually beat the game. (Since this is something apocalyptic-survival games usually don’t do.)
But really i think it just needs more to seperate itself from the genre some.
not just being another survivors and zombies in a ruined world.
Because otherwise why would I choose this game over the 5 and probably more others?
Doing things that other games in this genra don’t normally do (unique ideas) or expanding on aspects that are often overlooked (for example like quest or the zombies themselves)
Would boss battling and a big storyline help with making it original? Like for example there might be different zones with tasks that you can complete. After completing every task in that zone, you are rewarded with armour that fits the style of that area and a piece of one of the end game gears. There will be side quests and hologram disks located around the world that can inform you on what happened. There will also be a lot of natural disasters related to desert areas that occur randomly.
