I am working on a new game where a group of players spawn into a room/small map and go through waves/rounds of battling different types of paranormal entities; after each round you must read your player journal and guess which entity it is you faced, guessing right and surviving the rounds will earn you reputation, allowing your rank to progress from amateur to professional (which also correlates to round difficulty), you must read and find clues around the map about the entity and observe its behavior while it is not attacking players to guess what it is and defeat it with its weaknesses found in the journal, if the weaknesses fail than you know you guessed the wrong entity and must guess again. This game would be heavily inspired by Phasmophobia and Specter.
In all fairness Iād give it a go - it sounds very unique and it interests me.
Thereās not many paranormal games on Roblox, but the concept of the entity having a weakness in a journal is a pretty unique addition, and I think it will work fairly well.
I would play this 100% maybe be even 1000000% I am all out for Horror games, I love the feeling of something jumping out of no where and scaring my soul out. lol
I LOVE IT !! This idea is intruiging and my friends and I love horror games. Keep in mind that to extent a game into horror, it usually needs a lot of detail. I would most likely play (and enjoy?) this game.
This would make for a good game but make sure it is a bit different from games such as Paranormica or Specter (which are both āinspired byā Phasmophobia), maybe add a twist to it to make it less of a copy.
Iām all for horror games and Iāll definitely give this ago but, there are already games that are heavily āinspiredā by Phasmaphobia on the platform and you should not add to that rather, branch off and think of something unique that Phasmaphobia or Spectre doesnāt have.
I would add in the option for a player to be the entity if desired and the feature I want to add that is different from phasmophobia, etc. is before each map loads, players will get a list of 5 items, and each player can choose any one of those 5 items to place around the map, to sabotage other players, help other players, or trick the entity, the items will be a selection of structural items, tools, decoys, etc. If you can think of a unique feature that outranks mine I would love to hear it so this game can be as fun, scary, and unique as possible!
I would definitely play it! Although the problem is that I donāt know on how long I would play it. Updates to make the game fresh, yes, but I recommend adding something like a story or even a Story Mode which would keep the playerās interest. I would also add people also experiencing this(characters) giving them depth, so thereās more constraints on the player from quitting your game.
Eg: Piggy. The minute MiniToon started adding story, his gameās popularity Sky-Rocketed.
It definitely seems interesting. Make sure though that itās not a direct rip-off of those games, but something new, because there will already be a bunch of people trying to rip-off Phasmophobia. That being said, I think it could be very interesting. You definitely need a twist to draw people in.
I would also recommend playing around with the new future lighting, although keep in mind not all players will see future lighting if their device isnāt powerful enough. I think that could make some very interesting maps/games, especially for a spooky game. I like using future and setting ambient light to pitch-black and 0 brightness. Then only artificial lights work. You can adjust this to make it just bright enough to see, but not very well.
I also agree with Theevilem, you should make the ghost a player. Coding an NPC to do that might be quite difficult and possibly less enjoyable. Although keep in mind the players on Roblox tend to be more likely to leave mid-game or go AFK, so you may want to consider that.
