After some thought and small discussions with a few people, I’ve come to the conclusion that Yeet Lands will be split up into several different games with a common UI, cross-game currency/XP system, etc.
Details:
This decision comes mostly due to how busy I’ve become as well as my lack of motivation to work on the overall project recently. Having multiple smaller-scale games is easier on my end to manage (Yeet Lands right now is nearly 6.5 thousand lines of code with only 3 minigames that are even close to being done), and gives the players more freedom in what they’d like to play. This also means critical bugs only impact a single game and not the whole system.
A common loading interface as well as general UI will be shared across them all (using the current UI Yeet Lands has), and a currency will be shared across all of them. This means if you earn money by playing “Game 1”, you can spend said money on “Game 2” if you’d like. All games will be in the group and a hub will be set up using the game’s lobby.
The game I am closest to releasing at this point is Race Against Time as the minigame was already quite fleshed out and I’ve always thought it could be it’s own game. I plan on making it a level-based system instead of it being random and it will play similar to Speed Run in some cases. I’ll also be turning Panels into it’s own game although it’ll need some modification/an original game concept to differentiate from Plates of Fate or Lab Experiment so it’s not a blatant ripoff.
Splitting said games up will allow them to come much quicker and with a considerably higher quality, as well.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me through the social media links on the group page! I’ll be posting updates to games/the system as a whole on said social media links as well.
(despacito spiders will still be a part of these games)
