Yet another showcase map!

Decided to work on this for the last week on and off, spent around a total of 15 hours on this.

Feedback and changes are highly appreciated!

The buildings look nice, though they lack detail on the interior.

Another thing I noticed is that the lighting seems a bit off. If you haven’t already considered it, take a look at future lighting, which greatly increases contrast and shadows. Also take a look at adding some ambient lighting around the map, ie lanterns, fireflies, etc.

Already looks good, but can certainly look great with a few tweaks here and there!

I simply lacked the knowledge on Japanese interiors so I just dumbed it down as much as I could to save the hassle. As for the future lighting setting I assume you’re talking about the Technology for the lighting, I did take a look into it and I was tryna mess around with it but for most cases simply because of how I built specific assets it would end up look really unclean so I simply stuck to the ShadowMap setting for a more simplistic solution.

The firefly idea is golden and I will definitely be adding that, I noticed the rest of the map looked quite dull and didn’t really reach much of a conclusion on that, this was really good feedback.

Thankyou!

If you lack knowledge on certain structures, my suggestion is to use reference images on google. It’s a very powerful tool that comes in handy for 99.99% of the developers out there.

Another suggestion is to learn to use a 3D Modeling software. Your capabilities will greatly increase.

I’m already familiar with references being used, when I was referring to dumbing it down I simply didn’t find much interest in focusing on something that player wouldn’t take much interest in. The main focus was mostly the exterior/terrain building.

As for using a 3D software I’ve already invested a good 3 years into blender and another year into Maya, I’m not too concerned about using those software unless its absolutely necessary when I feel limited by the creation of specific objects/shapes.

Well, no offense, but you definitely could’ve done something more impressive for these 3 years.

No offense, but if you’ve invested time into other engines, something better would’ve obviously been expected.

Look man, I’m not going to step into an argument here. I’m just sharing my personal opinion. If you have a problem with that then you might as well ignore everyone here.
