Procession or Progression?
This post is for the players out there dying for the release of Procession, a game with a long history and unique playing style. It may not be the best game out there, but it’s one made with passion by a single person. This post includes a short history of Procession, from concept to process to finished product and ofcourse a short summary of what you can expect upon public release. If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me on Roblox.
Procession through time.
Believe it or not, this game was the very first time that Procession made an appearance. This game, Project: 1x3Y was a far-from-finished and discontinued project from 2014. This was supposed to be a round based horror game involving you hunting/escaping monsters. The very first round would be named “Procession” where you killed skeletons. Pretty straight forward right? The concept of being a horror game changed quickly into a meme game as you can see on the image above.
Next up: “The Scare Factor”, a survival game. The title and description told it all. Fight to survive, with a scary factor. This game was the very first concept version of Procession, and also the official beginning of Procession. Short said, this game was going to be all about horror and survival. Featured simple gameplay. The greatest difference between this version, and upcoming versions was that weapons were not bought in the shop, but obtained in stages. In total there were 3 levels made, of which 2 featured hidden weapons. This gives ideas doesn’t it…? This game was discontinued due to major complexities, breakdowns and glitches.
I remember it as it was yesterday. The summer or 2017 started and I decieded to break my head on “Project Ascension”. Ascension 2 (dubbed Project Ascension) was supposed to be a follow-up project/game of Ascension 1, a game I made somewhere in 2013. It was a horror/survival game with boss fights, without any weapons. Tactic, teamwork and interaction were a must to win game rounds. Ascension 2 would start off a couple of years after the events of Ascension 1. Dr. Deth (the main antagonist of Ascension 1) would appear again because there basically is no Ascension without Dr. Deth! This time you would be armed to the teeth fighting enemies and bosses. Tactics made place for action and violence. When everything functioned more or less as it should, I found that this was not the way that Ascension should be followed up, and thus discontinued the project. The game basis for Procession was laid here and would have a big influence in how Procession would look like.
So here we are now, with Procession actually being a thing now. Based for 80% on Ascension 2’s game engine. Ascension 2 made place for Procession, the horror/adventure game with a special touch. Friends told me that Ascension 2 was a great game and they found that I shouldn’t discontinue on it. Almost 2 years later, I returned in 2019 back to the drawing board looking for a way to save Ascension 2. I came up with the idea to take this opportunity to make a brand new and original game that isn’t based on any other games. Procession is my biggest game project to date and also my crown jewel.
Ok, the history is cool but what will we get to see ingame?
The awnser to that is simple:
- 3 ways to play the game
- Co-op multiplayer: play rounds, buy weapons, save the world together. (This mode will be available upon release)
- Versus multiplayer: good vs bad - Build, Battle, Win. (Upcoming)
- Story Mode: Save Robloxia from the Great Harvest (Upcoming)
- A pure horror experience: Weapons certainly give a feeling of being safe, which ofcourse is wrong. There will be plenty of scary enemies, jumpscares and many other scary things! Don’t let the peaceful main menu decieve you.
- Compelling and strong storyline: I’ve read more than enough books to differ good- from bad stories. I’m only hoping there won’t be any tears flowing though…
- Achievements available over different game modes & games: You read that right: all bought weapons, boosters and pets can be used over the different game modes. I myself know how annoying it can be that you have to start all over again when your favorite game gets updated. This is the major advantage that Procession has over other games on Roblox and I do hope that other games also will follow this trend.
- Simple gameplay: Even though Procession looks and sounds like it will be a complex game, it really won’t be. Everything is easily accessible. For those who still can’t figure out how the game works, a tutorial is in the makes!
- Beautiful scenery, originality and simplicity: No hurt in adding some beauties every now and then right? This game has the feel of a typical roblox game: R6 rig, raycasting weapons, blocky building style…
Making Procession feels amazing and I certainly do hope that you guys love it as much as I do. See you again when the game releases!
